"I was born in Greeley, Nebraska. By the time of graduation
from St. Mary's High School, Iowa City, I had attended eight different
schools. In 1942 I enlisted in the U.S. Army and spent 40 months
in the service during World War II of which 37 1/2 months were overseas,
including duty in England, France and Germany."
"After an honorable discharge in the fall of
1945, I re-enrolled at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa. I
received a B.A. in political science in 1945. I worked for the former
Collins Radio Company, (now Rockwell International) for 20 years
in Cedar Rapids, Iowa."
"On May 4, 1957 I married Joan Vaske, at Dyersville,
Iowa, and we lived in Cedar Rapids from 1957-1971, during which
time our 5 children were born."
."In 1971 we moved to Davenport, Iowa. In 1970
I started working for KMart in Cedar Rapids, and transferred to
the Bettendorf store in 1971, and to the Davenport store in 1976.
I retired from there in Feb. 1986."
