Johannes
Milder and Hendrina Burgers were born in a small town called Doornenburg,
just 2 kilometers Northeast of Gendt, the Netherlands in 1838. They were
married in 1868 and emigrated to the United States in 1872.
To
this marriage were born three sons and three daughters. They were Elisabeth
(Wieskamp), 1872; William, 1874; Harry, 1876; Anna (Brugman), 1877; Wilhelmina
(Van Driel), 1879; and John, 1884.

The
Milder family lived on a small farm near West Liberty where they raised
produce and sold dairy products.

Edward and Rose (Hipple) Smith
|
Edward Smith, born in 1867 at Danville, Ill., and Rose Hipple,
1865, of Cedar County, Iowa, were united in marriage.
To this union were born one son and four daughters.

They were Reuben, 1889; Gertrude (Milder), 1891; Bessie (Schooley),
1893; Velva (Embree), 1903; and Veatress (Dexter), 1906.
The Milder and Smith families both lived in or near West Liberty,
Iowa. Edward Smith worked for the railroad.
