The
20th annual John & Gertrude Milder Family Picnic was held
on Sunday, July 21st, 2002 at 12:00 noon at the City Park, Iowa City,
Iowa. There were 85 members present, including Lois Brugman, Leslie Milder,
Ann Pruess and Janet Berry. Paul’s family were in charge.
Catherine
Milder handed out door prizes for men, women, children.
The
minutes of the previous picnic were read and the Treasurer’s report given.
Pat
Kasper reported on the status of the memorial monument in La Crosse, WI
that the Milders donated money for in the name of Sister Margaretta. She
handed out a letter and pictures of the monument for those who were unable
to attend the dedication on May 27 (Memorial Day), 2002. Louise, Leonard,
Marilyn and Pat were able to attend and were treated royally by the Sisters
at the St. Rose Convent.
Catherine
Milder and Connie Ludwig will be going to Holland in early August and
are planning to research/locate other Milder family relatives while there.
Ron
Milder handed out copies of transcribed diaries. Ten years of 50 have
been completed so far and he and Charles Miller asked if anyone else was
interested in helping with transcription. Vince Milder is placing the
transcribed diaries on the John and Gertrude Milder Family web site at
WWW.Milder.Org.
if anyone is interested in looking up all the diaries and other interesting
things about the family.
Ron
also has information about registering the Milder Family as a family that
has been in the U.S. for more than 100 years. He also brought a copy of
an article from the Catholic Messenger from 1951 reporting the 41st
wedding anniversary of John and Gertrude.
Charles
brought genealogy of the Milder family and wanted everyone to look at
it and see if there are any changes to be made.
Paul’s
family will have a Mass said for the family.
