WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 1964- Went to Mass, home with Marilyn and the kiddies. I watched Barbara Joann this a.m. She was good. I also watered plants and after dinner I rode with Gene & betty out to Paul's for the sale. It was pretty good. Came home rather early. Paul & Lillian here for a while this eve. Also Leonard called. Got mail ready & wrote to Sister M.
THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 1964- Went to Mass & home with Marilyn. Rainy morning. I worked this forenoon in making the salad dressing for Libb for the wedding dinner. Then before I had the dishes done, Maurice's family came & Joann did my dishes for me. We had a good visit this p.m. Quiet eve, no company. Made Holy Hour.
FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 1964- Went to Mass, Louise brought me home as it was First Friday. Then she came after me before 10:00 a.m. & took me to get my hair fixed & then she got me & brought me home. In the p.m. I did my washing & worked a little on apron. Mrs. Wheeler came over with the rent after supper. Gene in a little while & knocked down the wall for me. Paul's here this eve, all but Phyllis.
SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 1964- Got up in pretty good time. Watered my plants and ate breakfast so I could receive Holy Communion at Marilyn's wedding. Went with Gene & Betty & we took Louise & Bessie. The weather was pretty good and we had a nice time, nice dinner. She got lots of nice gifts. We got home in good time. Gene started working at sewer at Watt's, didn't have very good luck. Betty took me to the grocery store. Gene & Betty came in the eve.
SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 1964- Gene & Betty went to 6:00 Mass so Gene & Ben could get to work on the sewer early. So they found out where it was stopped up & got it opened up & they were through in just a little while. Louise took me to 7:30 Mass. Rainy day again. I was alone all day & all eve. Don K. brought home the things Ann borrowed for the Tupperware Party and visited a while. So it was a long lonesome day.
MONDAY, APRIL 6, 1964- The first time to have our anniversary without Dad, but that God I did have him for 53 years. I didn't get much done today outside of getting my meals, reading prayers & working on Cindy's apron. Had a few phone calls. Gene was over for a while & got the plug put in the cesspool lid. I paid him up. No company this eve. Alone as usual.
TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 1964- Went to Mass & then Marilyn & children brought me home. Wilma called & said she was coming up. So she did & spent the day with me. That helped a lot. Gene got the telephone call that they could get their baby on Thursday, so we are all excited. In the eve Louise & I went to our Card Party, had a nice time.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 1964- Went to Mass, home with Marilyn. Then she brought Douglas & Donna Jo over for a little while, while she took Diane to the Dr. I watered the plants - quite a job. In the p.m. Louise & Gene & Betty went downtown and looked for a rug for me. So they brought out samples & selected one. It's their best Dupont Nylon, so I hope it wears. Wrote to Sister this eve. Leonard over & says the place is about sold.
THURSDAY, APRIL 9, 1964- Went to Mass with Gene & Betty. This is their big day. when they got their little adopted son, Philip John, they stopped in after noon to show him to us. Surely a nice little boy. Lillian, Kay & Phyllis were here & stayed for dinner. Louise also came over to see him. Louise, Leonard & Glasgow met with the lawyers today to start on the selling of the land across the road.
FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 1964- Didn't get to Mass today. Did my washing. Mrs. Watts carried them out to the line for me. Talked to her & also Mrs. Yoder. Betty came over and got me & took me to see the baby again today, but he was still asleep. Gene brought me home. I sewed some more on Cindy's apron this evening. Wrote to Bro. John.
SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 1964- Didn't get to Mass again. I worked with plants and cleaned bowls. Ben & Joann & Barbie & Joe were out this forenoon. After dinner I went with Gene & Betty to take baby Philip John down to be Baptized. All of Paul's family, Paul & Phyllis, were there too. Everything went fine. Got home in good time & worked at dusting floors. Long evening, no company.
SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 1964- Went to 7:30 Mass with Gene & then home with him for breakfast. Then went to Leonard's to stay with the children while he went to Mass. Then he brought me home & a little later Lyle & Libb & 3 boys came & brought dinner, so we had Leonard & children over for dinner too. In p.m. Libb planted a little garden for me. Wilma & Clarence came & then they took Libb & Lyle & me along over to see baby Frances & Louis also came & I went with them to see the baby.
MONDAY, APRIL 13, 1964- ! yr. since Dad's death. Mass for Dad. I rode with Catherine & school kids. Then Wilma & Clarence & Ann were to Mass & I went home with them and was there for breakfast, dinner & supper and spent my day sewing on apron, rested for a while & visited neighbors for a little while. Then W. & C. & Ann brought me home & stayed for a while. Gerald & Pauline & family also came for a while.
TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1964- Didn't get to Mass today as Gene has to go early to read farm meters & Marilyn isn't driving yet. So I did my ironing this a.m. This p.m. I rested some & watched TV & worked on apron. Gene stopped in for a little while. Also Pat came out for her garden seeds. After supper Paul & Lillian came to show me their house plans. Gene also over at that time. Talked to Louise & Pat on the phone.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 1964- One year ago today was Dad's Funeral. We still miss him so much. I didn't get to Mass today. Watered the plants, then Louise came down & we measured for a rug for the dinning area to match the living room & also the hall. I offered to iron her curtains for her, so first I had to sew up some on the hems. So glad to be able to do something for her.
THURSDAY, APRIL 16, 1964- No Mass again today. Got up in pretty good time, read my Mass prayers, then got my washing started. Pat came & left Jerry here while she worked over at Leonard's getting ready for the baby shower for Philip. I wrote to Larry's today. Also got anniv. card ready for Schoebelins & got check ready for light & power. Connie here for supper. Wilma came after us.
FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 1964- Got up in fairly good time, read my Mass prayers, mailed my letters & worked in the kitchen, also made fruit salad for supper. Louise took me down to the Dr. B.P. higher than for a long time. 190/98. Also have other trouble. In the eve Pat & Glenn & family came & brought oysters & milk & celery. We had a good Oyster supper. Phyllis stayed after school to go home with them. Libb, Lyle, Bob & Rita came in the evening.
SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 1964- Didn't get to Mass again today. Got my Mass prayers read. I cleaned bathrooms & floors, watered plants. I didn't feel very good today at all. So lay down quite a bit. In the p.m. Louise came over for eggs & cleaned up the floors for me. Gene took me to Confession & to the grocery store. In the eve Gene set out my onion sets for me. In eve went over to Gene's to see baby pictures on screen, also other pictures, had ice cream & cake. Betty put my hair up.
SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 1964- Went to 7:30 Mass with Gene & then home with him for breakfast. Then came home about 10:00 a.m. Got some dinner. Then Louise brought Bessie out around 1:00 p.m. Then later Ben & Joann & Barbara came out & we visited a while. Ben got the grape vines. Ed, Mary, Alan, Rosemary & Joyce came & got their bu. Then Gertrude, Nick & boys came & were here for supper. Then after that Bessie & I watched TV.
MONDAY, APRIL 20, 1964- Rainy morning. Went to Mass. Bessie was here & got the breakfast. We had pancakes & bacon & Tang. We had quite a busy day. I washed 3 batches of clothes & then she got quite a bit of ironing done. All but starch clothes. We also had a very good dinner, cooked a Banty I got from Libb, also had Parsnips from Lillian. We rested also in the p.m. & had a light supper. Gene took Bessie home & then I was all alone as usual.
TUESDAY, APRIL 21, 1964- Didn't get to Mass as Gene had to go early. I read Mass prayers, had breakfast. Joann talked to me on phone. I went over to Betty's & sat there with baby Philip while she went to the grocery store. Then I did my ironing in the forenoon by hand, the starched clothes left from Monday. At the noon hour Mrs. Dieshs came out & took me downtown to get my rent order notarized. I worked some on apron & rested in the p.m. Pat & Glenn & family brought hamburgers & french fries & had supper with me. Then we went to Gene & Betty's to celebrate little Gene's Birthday. Betty made the Birthday Cake. Pat brought ice cream & strawberries & chocolate.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 1964- Went to Mass this morning. Wrote a letter to Carol and one to Bro. Paul. Then watered the plants & got my dinner. Not feeling to good this forenoon. Joann called early this morning. rested some this p.m. & got feeling better. Sat out in the yard to write Sister's letter & Ann & Mrs. Yoder both came to visit with me. Gene & Tuffy also came over. Paul & Lillian & Tom came down & put in some garden. Finished writing to Sister this eve.
THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 1964- Rode to Mass this morning with Gene & home with Marilyn. Took it easy today & feel much better. It rained off & on today. Paul's house came, so they got it set up & ready for the roof. Gene helped, also Carl & his man & Chas for 1/2 day. Lillian stopped in for a while. Paul & Tom brought their dinner here to eat it. Louise came over for a while & Wilma had dinner with me. Mary Lou got the Measles today.
FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 1964- Rode to Mass with Gene. Made the Stations after Mass & came home with Marilyn. I felt pretty good this a.m. They delivered my new rugs but don't know when I'll get them down. Fried fish & made rhubarb sauce today and shared it with Gene's. Paul & Tom brought their dinner & ate it here. I did a little hand washing today.
SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 1964- No Mass today. Got up in fairly good time. Had my breakfast. Lillian called & said she was bringing dinner in today for the men. So we had a good dinner. She took me to the grocery store this forenoon. After dinner I washed my hair & L. put it up for me. Then they went home & I watered plants. Gene & Mr. Watts put up the new antenna. Betty came over & cleaned floors.
SUNDAY, APRIL 26, 1964- Daylight Savings Time. Went to 7:30 Mass with Betty & then home with Pat & Glenn & Kathy and had breakfast with them and spent the forenoon there. Then went with them to Libb's for dinner. Had a very good dinner & then visited until time to go to church for Confirmation of Ann & Rita. Very nice services. Then to Wilma's for supper. Gene & Betty was there as Betty was Ann's sponsor. Had pictures with Ann, also with baby Philip, had pictures taken at Libb's with Rita. Wilma & Clarence brought me home.
MONDAY, APRIL 27, 1964- Rainy Morning. Went to Mass. Rode down with Gene & home with Marilyn. Then they got eggs. Later in the forenoon she brought Debbie & Donna over to stay while she got her hair fixed. In the p.m. Joann left Barbara here while she got 2 teeth pulled. Then I was all alone in the eve as usual. Phyllis stayed here tonight after baby sitting at Leonard's.
TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 1964- Rainy morning. Rode down to Mass with Gene & home with Leonard. He came as Debbie wasn't going to school on account of her cold & he was still at home. I packed hats away today & felt pretty good. Gave Mrs. Watts coat hangers. In the p.m. I worked on apron, watched TV & rested some. Then later Louise came for eggs & visited a while. Mr. & Mrs. Watts sowed grass seed tonight & then it rained.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29, 1964- Rainy day. Didn't get to Mass as Gene had to go early. Then I read my Mass prayers & also did my washing. Had them done & dried & folded & mended by noon. Also watered plants. Wrote letter to Sister Margaretta in the evening. So was pretty tired. Gene left his car over here & visited a little while in the p.m., otherwise no company.
THURSDAY, APRIL 30. 1964- Rainy eve. Didn't get to Mass today as Gene didn't have to go out & read meters today, no book. Lillian stopped in a little while this a.m. I read my Mass prayers. Joann called on the phone, also Louise. I got myself a good dinner & fried some steak for once. It was good. In the p.m. I stayed at Leonard's while Marilyn went to the dentist. Then Gene came & took me over to their place to see the baby's new things. The baby sure is growing. Quiet eve. Made my Holy Hour.
FRIDAY, MAY 1, 1964- Went to Mass this morning. Rode down with Gene and home with Louise. She brought her electric baker broiler oven. I used it to heat up a frozen TV dinner & it was really good. Can eat meat today as it's the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker. I rec'd Bro. John's letter today, so I got to read it this forenoon and then wrote his letter to him. Late this p.m. & eve Gene over also Mr. Wheeler to pay the rent.
SATURDAY, MAY 2, 1964- Didn't get to Mass. Got up in pretty good time & read my Mass prayers. I got my bank stuff ready & grocery list ready & Louise went downtown for me. I washed bowls & tub etc. Also did hand washing & watered plants before noon. After noon I ran carpet sweeper & dust mop over floors. Looked for renter to come with the rent, but didn't show up. Phyllis came to stay all night after baby sitting at Leonard's.
SUNDAY, MAY 3, 1964- Altar & Rosary Sunday. Phyllis & I went to Mass with Gene & then home with Gene for breakfast & stayed until around 10:00 o'clock. I read prayers & rested & had a light dinner. Then Libb & Lyle came for me & I went home with them & after chores went with them to Nichols to the church supper, which was very good. Met quite a few of the relatives. The Frantz's brought me home & we played cards foe a while & had a cake.
MONDAY, MAY 4, 1964- Didn't get to Mass today. I worked around here today and in the afternoon went with Betty & Philip downtown. In the morning Mrs. Lewis came & paid the April rent. So I got the statement ready for the bank & we took that down & I got pills & wedding gift for Joan Wieskamp & left clothes at the cleaners.
TUESDAY, MAY 5, 1964- Got to Mass this morning. Then Louise called & said Jackson had called & said the papers were ready to sign. So she got hold of Leonard & we met him down at J's office around the noon hour. Louise & Leonard read the contract & decided it was O.K. & I signed it. So now it belongs to Bruce Glasgow. Took care of Doug & Donna Jo this p.m. while Marilyn went to school. Gene mowed yard and planted radishes, beans, Zinnia & glad bulbs.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 1964- Got to Mass again today and then I did my washing. Louise came over and painted the top of the picnic table & benches aluminum, also light pole & bowls & trimmed up roses & evergreens. Then she & Betty decided to clean house in the afternoon. So they cleaned the living room & dinning area. In the eve Gene & Leonard put down the new big rug & pad.
THURSDAY, MAY 7, 1964- Got up in pretty good time & had a cup of coffee before 8:00 & then went to 9:00 mass with Marilyn & the kiddies. Then home & had a good breakfast. About noon Lillian, Catherine, Phyllis, John & Linda brought some things for dinner as Phyllis had to take a test at 1:30 p.m. Catherine, Linda & John went out home with Gene. Lillian stayed & then Gene got Measles in school & she took him out to Betty for Pat. Louise brought me some good steak for supper, also brought a banana pie. Kept Leonard's children in the eve while they went to the Rosary for Mr. (Remert)?
FRIDAY, MAY 8, 1964- Went to Mass. Then home & breakfast. Got checks made out to mail, also worked on checking account. Joann called and we talked. She wanted doughnut recipes. Louise took me down to the Rosary for Rita Potter, one of our Card Club members, only 34 yr. old. Then Louise shopped for me. Then home. I started Bro. John's letter & then got my supper. In the eve I went with Lillian & the girls to the Crowning of the May Queen.
SATURDAY, MAY 9, 1964- Didn't get to Mass today. Got up in pretty good time. Got prayers said & finished Bro. John's letter and mailed it. Then worked this a.m. cleaning & watering plants etc. After dinner I rested a little, iced a cake, did dishes & tried to get things straightened up some. Gene came & took me to Confession & then to the grocery store. Then when we got home Betty went. Betty came over after supper & put up my hair. Pat & family sent me a corsage.
SUNDAY, MAY 10, 1964- Went to 7:30 Mass with Betty & we took Debbie along. First Communion for Mary Lou. Big class of 104. I went with Carl & Louise out to Pat's for breakfast and then home around 11:00 p.m. I rested some & then Ben & Joann & the 3 little ones came. Then Libb's, Roseann's, Louise & Maurice's. We all had ice cream & cake together. Then Gertrude's came and Wilma's & Paul's brought supper. So we had a good supper together. Leonard's stopped in for a while, also Ed's, Pat's, Gerald's & Gene's family. We had ice cream & cake. Nice time, misc. gifts & cards.
MONDAY, MAY 11, 1964- Didn't get to Mass. Bessie stayed over night. We had a good breakfast. Then did our washing, 3 batches & Bessie ironed. Was awful tired today from the big Sunday. Worked some on apron. Mike & Ken brought out some flower plants & set them out for me. They are Ageratums. So we had a quiet eve and a pretty good lunch for supper.
TUESDAY, MAY 12, 1964- No Mass again today. Bessie & I had pancakes & bacon. Catherine came to clean cupboards for me today. She cleaned the China Closet & then we went downtown & got shelf paper for the kitchen & then she did the kitchen cupboards. After dinner she finished & then went over to Betty's. Bessie & I rested & then got ready for the big evening at the Amana's with my children. Louise, Wilma, Libb & Lyle, Pat & Glenn, Paul & Lillian, Leonard & Marilyn, Betty & Gene, & Gerald & Pauline.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 1964- Didn't get to Mass. Wilma & Libb came out today & cleaned my bedroom & finished living room & put down rug in dining area & waxed floors & did some hoeing & weeding in garden & flower beds foe me, for which I am so very glad. Quiet eve, only Ray Engel stopped to get me to sign petition against going into City, which I didn't. Bessie & Pat each called. First Radishes & Onions, planted April 12.
THURSDAY, MAY 14, 1964- No Mass again today. Catherine stayed overnight, so she had breakfast here. I finished Sister's letter & mailed it. Mrs. Watts visited a little while & looked at my new rugs. Very tired today but tried to keep going. Ann came in for a while in the p.m. to show me the children's picture. Gene mowed the lawn in evening. Betty came over with the baby for a little while in the eve. Made Holy Hour tonight.
FRIDAY, MAY 15, 1964- No Mass again today. I got more mail ready this forenoon & did my washing & hung them outside. After dinner I cleaned up on old letters & did up dishes. Ben & his 3 big boys came out & started to get patio cleaned up getting it ready to get it cemented. I was alone all evening & wrote letter to Larry & Cindy and started on Bro. John's letter. Gene & Betty & baby went to Dean's.
SATURDAY, MAY 16, 1964- No Mass again today. Got up in pretty good time & then finished my letter to Bro. John & got them mailed. Ben, Joe & Bennie came out & finished cleaning up on the patio, so he can get it ready next week for the cement. I worked outside all a.m. Set out some geraniums & pruned the roses, got in some asparagus & radishes & onions. Worked pretty hard this p.m. getting my work done up - so tired.
SUNDAY, MAY 17, 1964- Went to 7:30 Mass with Gene and then to their house for breakfast. Betty brought me home around 10:20 a.m. I rested & got other things done up around here & got Vincent's letter ready to send. Made me a fried chicken TV supper, it really was good. Went with the Dietsch's to Regina to see the school play Oklahoma. It was good.
MONDAY, MAY 18, 1964- Didn't get to Mass. Gene still reading farm meters. I mailed Vincent's things today. Joann called this a.m. & we had a good talk. She called back around noon & said Mike got good grades in his test for the Air Corps. Heard from Bro. John & he may come back to the States. Frank Sueppel out to collect Insurance. Worked on thank you notes. Gene over & planted my onions & hoed garden. Louise over for eggs & brought me asparagus & strawberries. I can mail my letters.
TUESDAY, MAY 19, 1964- Didn't get to Mass again today. Libb came out this forenoon & measured up for the material I would need for davenport, chairs, settee & then ordered it for me. I finished thank you notes & mailed them. In the evening Libb, Lyle, John & Rita came & helped get house plants set out & watered, sure thankful for that.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 1964- Got to Mass this morning & Leonard brought me home. Wilma came out & had dinner with me & then she helped get my summer clothes out & the winter things put away & took 3 of my dresses to the cleaners. Then we also set out the petunias in the window boxes. Ben was out to work some more on patio. I set out my Christmas Cactus & watered plants in the eve.
THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1964- Didn't get to Mass again today. I worked outside some again this morning & got a mess of lettuce in, also rhubarb. I washed the dress from Bessie & ironed it. In the p.m. Diane & Doug were here. I gave them old hats & purses & they were happy. Ben & Joe were out & finished up on the patio so they can pour the cement Saturday.
FRIDAY, MAY 22, 1964- Got to Mass this morning. Then Betty took me downtown - got the graduation cards & Jubilee Card for Msgr., also got clothes at the cleaners, also the new material for the furniture and the groceries. In the afternoon I did my washing. It was hot & windy. Gene mowed the lawns. Got Bro. John's letter today, didn't know any more for sure. I wrote my letter to him tonight, so up late as usual.
SATURDAY, MAY 23, 1964- No Mass today. I finished Bro. John's letter. Then Joe came, also Bill Bock and got started getting ready. Then Gene came & they got wire to put in for reinforcement. The cement came 9:00 a.m. and then they worked & sure got a nice job. Gene left & went to work for Paul after they got the cement poured. So it was around 1:00 when bill got done & they left. Lillian brought dinner in for their men - Paul, Tom. Glenn & another man, Catherine, Linda & John. Then they went downtown & got my shoes at Sears for me. Ronnie came this p.m. & he also helped up at the house.
SUNDAY, MAY 24, 1964- Went with Gene to 7:30 Mass. Then home with Pat's. Had a big breakfast & then did some work towards dinner & then we rested. Afterwards the girls & I got cards ready to send to Sister M. Pat wrapped them & going to mail them tomorrow. Then I helped fry chicken. Had a good supper outside. Gene & Betty & Philip, Carl & Louise came. Played cards in the eve & had ice cream, cake & berries.
MONDAY, MAY 25, 1964- Rode down with Gene & went to Mass this morning - home with Marilyn & kiddies. Worked around putting things away, also started fixing Gene's pants. Just awfully tired. Catherine, Phyllis brought their lunch here & ate it & then hoed & weeded their garden. Then went over to Betty's as usual. I rested some & watered plants again in the eve. Quiet eve, no company as usual.
TUESDAY, MAY 26, 1964- Rode down to Mass with Gene & home with Marilyn & children. I worked outside this a.m. Got lettuce, radishes, also picked strawberries. Lillian stopped in & then she set out my petunias, 8 blue - 6 pink & then went Betty's as usual. I got Mrs. Watts to help me & we got the ageratum set out. Then I hurried & got my dinner & around noon I cleaned up the vegetables. In the p.m. I got a little rest. In the eve I watered plants again.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, 1964- Rode down to Mass with Gene & home with Marilyn. Then they got eggs. I sewed this a.m., finished Gene's pants & hemmed dish towels. Then went out & covered plants & then went to Mrs. Watts to see her garden. Rec'd good letter from Sister also Pauline. in the p.m. Joann came out for their eggs & visited a while & then I rode to Davenport with Gene to get Ronnie. In the eve Gene took my furniture to Libbs.
THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1964- Got to Mass again today by Gene & Marilyn. I washed this a.m. & got them all out before I ate my dinner. After noon I cleaned up on the dishes & got my Honey - Vinegar mixture put in a bottle. Paul's school kids stopped in & gave me my tickets for chair at graduation. Later Lillian came to use the phone. Then I gave them some Coke. When she brought the bottles back she took me up to see their new house. It really is nice. Late in making Holy Hour.
FRIDAY, MAY 29, 1964- Went to Mass with Johnie & Linda. Ronnie took us down. Then home with Marilyn & the children. Marilyn stayed & helped me get the flowers picked for the cemeteries. 6 for our cemetery & 3 for up town cemetery. Betty also sent bouquet. Bessie went with u8s & then came home with us & stayed for supper. Gene took her home. We stopped at Dexter's & left their birthday gifts. Heard from Bro. John, rather disturbing news, but God's will be done.
SATURDAY, MAY 30, 1964- Didn't get to Mass this morning, no way to go. So read my Mass Prayers and worked at my work. Got in radishes, onions, asparagus, mixed sausage and fried it, made a good dinner, wrote letter to Bro. John. After dinner I did up the dishes and wrote to Sister Margaretta. Then went to confession. Then at home I washed my hair & Betty came over & put it up. Gene came over & helped me get the plants watered. Pat & Glenn & family, Libb & Lyle & family came & brought their suppers. Then Wilma & Clarence & Ann came. Later Louise came & brought my stand.
SUNDAY, MAY 31, 1964- Went to Mass with Gene. Then home with him for breakfast. Then I came home in the forenoon. Kept busy, also reading my prayers. Then I got ready to go to the graduation. Paul's stopped and took my picture with the girls ( Catherine & Phyllis). Then I went with them to the graduation. It was all very nice. Then I rode with Carl & Louise. We got Bessie & brought her home with us so she could take care of Barbara. Then we rode with Ben out to Paul's. Had a nice time. Then I rode home with Pat's. Rosemary came & stayed with us.
MONDAY, JUNE 1, 1964- Didn't get to Mass. Got up in pretty good time & we had a good breakfast. Then got at the washing, had 3 batches for Bessie & me. Bessie did my ironing. We got radishes, lettuce, onions, asparagus in. Also Bessie & Rosemary picked the strawberries. We had strawberry shortcake, asparagus, potatoes, pork, lettuce, radishes & onions for dinner. In the p.m. Linda came & played with Rosemary. The Gene took Bessie & I & the girls to the cemetery to see all the nice flowers on Pop's grave.
TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 1964- We got up in pretty good time and had a good breakfast. Then Dave came for us & we went to Libb's to help dress chickens, had them done by noon. After dinner we packed them up. Then did a little ripping on cushions for Libb & she worked on my valances for the breezeway. After supper L. & L. brought Bessie & I back. Bessie to her place & I came home & got ready to go to the Card Party with Louise. Rosemary stayed down there.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 1964- I didn't get up to early today. Awfully tired out so didn't get much done, plants watered inside & then after supper I used the hose on most all the plants outside, also watered the strawberries. Gene went fishing down at Lyle's this eve & then brought Rosemary back. Tomorrow we go to Pat's. Sounds like a big day, I have to get dinner as Pat will be gone.
THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 1964- Pat came for us quite early as she wanted us to stay all night. We had quite a bit of packing to do. We helped where ever we could. Pat had to go up to help serve dinner at school. So I & the girls finished the dinner. There were 10 of us to eat. In the p.m. after Pat got home they picked strawberries & I helped clean them. Sure didn't feel good today, lots of back ache. Pat also got Ken & Joe to go out to help with hay.
FRIDAY, JUNE 5, 1964- We got up in pretty good time. Pat took me & Rosemary, Kathy & Mary Lou to Mass, which was for Dad this morning. Louise was there, also Lillian & the girls & Ronnie. Then we stopped & left our pill bottles and Pat also got groceries. Then back out to Pat's & a good breakfast. afterwards I did some sewing for her. After dinner we packed up to come home. The school kids went into school for their report cards. Pat brought us home. We got our pills, stamps & groceries first.
SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 1964- Rosemary & I got up in fairly good time & had our breakfast. I did a washing. It was sort of damp out so I only hung out the starched clothes. They finally dried in the afternoon. We had a good dinner & cleaned floors in the p.m. & other work. Betty came over & put up our hair. I helped Rosemary wash hers. Rosemary baked a cake, I iced it. Then we went with Betty to the store. Ben & Joann & Barbie came by to show us the graduation pictures. Dean & Anita came up to Gene's this eve & Rosemary went home with them. We ate our supper outside.
SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 1964- Went to Mass with Gene at 7:30. Altar & Rosary Sunday. Then home with him for breakfast. Then later Gene brought me home and I was alone the rest of the day until a little after 3:00 p.m. I went with Gene & Betty to the reception for Monsignor for a little while & then home. About 6:00 p.m. Paul's family came for a little while. Then Paul, Lillian & Phyllis went to Carl's & their new house. Catherine & Linda went to Betty's. Then Ronnie & Tom went to Gene's & stayed there. Betty & babe were over for a little while. Then later Paul & L. & P. came back & we played some cards & had cake.
MONDAY, JUNE 8, 1964- Pat & Jerry came out while the 3 children went to Catechism & she took me down to get my eyes tested. They will be ready Thursday if I can get down to get them adjusted. This eve Libb, Lyle, Dave & Rita came up & brought the davenport & chair from the porch. They really looked nice. Then Libb washed windows & put up the new curtains. Then Lyle & Dave & Libb painted the little commode, the stand & the table. May God bless them.
TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 1964- Got up fairly early, pains in my legs & couldn't sleep. Pat came out this a.m. again & she cleaned the bathroom for me, washed the curtains etc., all done but my work & the floor. Leonard over & wanted wiring? for his new trailer. So Marilyn came over & we got things ready. I went over to Mrs. Watts with check for grass seed. Anna Marie visited me a while. I watered flowers outside & plants inside. Up late reading prayers.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 1964- Got up in fairly good time, read my prayers & got breakfast. Pat & Jerry came and she cleaned the floor in the bathroom & waxed it. Then I got ready to go home with her for the day. We got Bessie & then the kids at Catechism. We cleaned strawberries for her, also spinach which she put in the freezer. In the eve we rode around with Pat & Glenn & family while he worked on the school census.
THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 1964- Got up in good time, read my prayers & got breakfast. Pat came out as usual and she did some cleaning in the breezeway & I helped her to measure her skirts that need to be shortened. Marilyn came over & we went up to see their new trailer. I washed & Pat helped hang them out. It started to sprinkle after dinner & Anna Marie took them down & brought them in for me. Marilyn & Diane came for me after 3:00 p.m. & took me down to get my glasses & have them adjusted.
FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 1864- Got up in pretty good time & got my breakfast by 7:00 a.m. so I could receive Communion at the 10:30 Mass for the Children. Pat & Jerry came out & got me. Then Pat got some shopping done & left my shoes & then we went to Mass & then to get our groceries. Then got the children. Glenn was here when we got home so we had dinner and then they all went home. Wilma & Clarence & Ann came this eve, also Libb & Lyle & boys. Picked a big pan of peas tonight.
SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 1964- Got up in good time & read my prayers. Today I did some weeding in flower bed. I put 3 pt. peas in the deep freeze. Betty came over & did my flowers & put up my hair for me after I washed it. I worked some on Pat's shirt, also with plants. Gene brought over hamburger & beans & their grill & we had a good supper together. Bro. John called from the Abbey at 9:00 o'clock & we had a nice talk. I am so happy he is back in the U.S.A.
SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 1964- I went with Pat & Glenn & family to Mass at Nolan Settlement where Francis made his First Holy Communion. Then we went to Gerald's. They took pictures and then had a good big breakfast. Then hurried around & went to Nichols for the Milder Reunion. It rain quite a bit on us on the way down. There was a real nice crowd of 84 there. 51 of the John Milders, 19 of the Wm. Milders, 11 of the Wieskamp's & 3 Brugman's.
MONDAY, JUNE 15, 1964- Got up late this morning as I didn't feel to good, more backache, but after breakfast I washed the bedding from the spare bedroom - also curtains from Utility room - also stand cover & lace table cloth by hand. Dried all but starch clothes, stand cover & stockings in the dryer. Louise came & brought over linoleum pieces. Gene & junkman hauled out junk.
TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 1964- I got up in pretty good time. Washed 3 rugs & pillow cover. Gene hung them out. Then I ironed 2 dresses & pressed 3 and got ready to go to the Dr. Not so good today, had to go back to the brace. Blood pressure 168/ 90. Marilyn took me & brought me home. This p.m. she came & weeded my flower bed. I finished ironing. Gene got Pat & the children & they brought in chicken & salad. Betty brought Coke, peas & potatoes & radishes. Then the girls cleaned the bedroom & washed the curtains. They also finished the breezeway, all but painting floor.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17, 1964- I got up in good time & got quite a few prayers read before Kay, Phyllis & Linda came. A little later Wilma & Ann came. So we got quite a lot of work done. Gene painted the breezeway floor & helped the girls wash windows & John helped him pick peas. Ann & Linda & John podded them. Wilma got them processed for freezer. Also Wilma & girls cleaned utility room & finished cleaning kitchen & we got clean curtains up. Went with Wilma & ????? to see Sister Adele & Sister Hendrina.
THURSDAY, JUNE 18, 1964- Got up in good time as I wanted to write to Bro. John, which I did & got it mailed in time. I rec'd his letter telling about his trip. Then I also wrote to Sister Margaretta and Catherine mailed it for me. In the p.m. I was awful tired today and didn't get much done. I got in a bunch of lettuce & some onions. In the eve I went with Gene & Betty & Philip to Libb's. We had a nice evening. It rained while we were there. Up late making Holy Hour.
FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 1964- Went to Mass with Gene this morning. Mass for Dad by Laura. Then I did my washing & also washed up the cleaning house rags. Hung all of them out, then it came up a rain & I had to hurry to get them down and finished drying them in the dryer. Libb & Lyle shopped for me & bought my lamps for me. Mothers Day gift from some of the children. In the eve Pat & Glenn's children were here while they went fishing. Rain came up again.
SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 1964- Pretty bad back ache, so didn't get up to early. But finally got around & got my work done up. Had a little to finish after noon and then got ready to go with Betty to Confession. Ben & Joann and baby came out for a while & then Paul's stopped in & Lillian left clothes here from the cleaners so they wouldn't need to move them. Lillian got the lamp this a.m. Quiet eve, no company.
SUNDAY, JUNE 21, 1964- Went to 7:30 Mass with Gene. Then home with him for breakfast. Gene brought me home & I spent the whole day alone. Betty walked over with the baby for a little while. Gene brought the boat back & got the garbage can. Gene called later & said he would take me to see Sister Margaretta next Sunday if I didn't get any other way to go. Pat called late in the evening.
TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 1964- We got up in pretty good time & had a good breakfast of Tang, bacon, eggs & toast. Then we got a lot of work done today. My back was pretty good. Washed good bedspread - my weeks wash & lots of hand washing. We also got the refrig cleaned out & flower bed weeded. Then Libb & Lyle came in the eve for Rita & they also did weeding for me, around the flowers & in the garden.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 1964- Backache this morning again but I ironed on the ironing board. Also washed blanket & 3 rugs. Nice day & they dried good. In the p.m. I did the ironing on the ironer. In the eve I wrote to Bro. John & Sister M. Heard from Mary, also Bessie today. No company.
THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 1964- Got up about the usual time, light breakfast. Got in the last of my lettuce today & picked some beans, also got some onions. Mrs. Watts & Ann got some Marigold plants & Mrs. Watts set out some Marigolds & Petunias for me. Betty did some cleaning this noon & then finished this eve. Gene got my groceries. I visited with Mrs. Watts this evening. Back some better this eve.
FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 1964- Big day getting ready for party for Catherine. Pat & children came out in the forenoon & she got the flowers ready & made Kay's corsage etc. etc. Also made her salad & left it here. In the p.m. Lillian helped a little and later Gene came over & did some work for me. Had a nice crowd, 23 all together. All seemed to have a good time.
SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 1964- I didn't get up very early as I was late getting to bed, but rested pretty good. I washed pink bathroom set & bed spread and just worked around getting things put away after having the party. Ate breakfast & dinner in the breezeway. In the eve Louise took me to Paul's & I saw their house. Then Paul & Lillian, Linda & Kay & I went with Louise to see their 2 new houses. One house open to the public.
SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 1964- Got up early to go with Gene to 6:00 Mass. We took Kay along with us. Then went to Betty's for breakfast. Then she brought me home when she went to Mass & I got things ready to go to Sister's. Then Wilma brought Tony up & Gene & Kay came & we took off from Paul's around 9:15. Had a wonderful trip and wonderful time with Sister M. & Carol. Left for home 4:45 p.m. Stopped & ate our lunch. Got home around 8:00 p.m. to Paul's.
MONDAY, JUNE 29, 1964- Didn't get up very early, but then got around, back not bothering much today. Clipped off my roses & set out some zinnias. Then Mrs. Watts helped pick the beans & I gave her some. Lillian gave me some cabbage & cooked beets, was sure good. In the eve I went with Gene & Betty & Philip to Paul's for a little party for Lillian's Birthday which is tomorrow.
TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 1964- Didn't feel to spry this morning so didn't get up very early. Then Joann called before I was dressed & all forenoon I had calls or someone coming in. Then Roseann & boys came about dinner time & I got dinner for them. Then in the p.m. Marilyn took me to the hospital to see Marge but she had gone home. Then we went downtown & did some shopping. I watered flowers in the eve. Gene worked on pump at Watts today.
