THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1953 Went to Mass as usual. Louise came over today and helped me again, got the boys room finished & stair steps, also she cleaned dining room floor & put one coat Glaxo on it- Dad & I went to Novena in eve and visited Harold.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1953 Went to Mass - took Lillian & family, Mickey M & Marilyn M - also & picked up Pat at St. Wenc. - Lillian helping me today- got along fine- did up my Saturday work ahead Pat at home this eve - Eds, Gerald's, Pauls & Lyles, Clems came & us ladies talked over the dinner & reception.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3, 1953 Went to Mass - Moe took Pat to St. Wenc & then to work. I was busy getting house work done & dinner on time- Gerts came around 11:00 P.M. Maurice took me to the football game. I sure enjoyed it.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 1953 Dad & I & Moe went to 7:30 Mass. Pat & Glenn also went, were here for breakfast. In the P.M. Wilma & family, also Ben's came in. Carl & Ben went hunting. Louise came over & worked on bride & groom cake decorations. Bens here for supper & eve. Lyles here in the eve

MONDAY,OCTOBER 5, 1953 Went to Mass - Pat working but awful tired. Frank let her come home at noon - I did my big washing, was pretty tired as usual - Pat & Glenn went for blood test this P.M.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1953 Went to Mass- picked Pat up at St. Wenc. Joann came over after breakfast & helped us good-ironing etc & Louise also came over & helped all day-I went downtown with Pat & got my hat. Glenn here for supper.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 1953 Went to Mass - Pat home again this P.M. Louise over today and helping a lot. Dad & I shopped a lot this a.m. for groceries.


THURSDAY,OCTOBER 8, 1953 Went to Mass - after breakfast we went to town again - Louise, Mary & Libb all here working when we got home.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1953 Went to Mass, another busy day. Louise helped us good. Mary & Lillian helped some this eve- Louise awful tired. Glenn here for supper as they practiced this eve.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 1953 Pat's wedding day. Dad & I & Moe went to 7;25 Mass, then home a little breakfast at Louise's -then a hurry to get ready for the wedding & clean up the house- Everything went off fine, Dad gave our daughter Patricia to Glenn Kasper for his wife-lots of pictures were taken, dinner for 72 at C.S.A. Hall, reception at 2:30 P.M., around 126 were here- dance at Hiland Palace- very large crowd -they stayed at their house that night.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1953 Dad & I & Moe went to 7:30 Mass. Vi & Caroline brought Pat & Glenn out for a while, then took them to Kaspers for dinner, they got their car washed, then came back out here and got ready to leave on their trip at about 7 or 8 min. to 2. I felt pretty tired & nervous today. Libb herein eve- helped unpack things.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1953 We went to Mass- so lonesome today it hurts- talked to Don & Frank, thanked them at the flower shop, they were very glad. Mrs. Kasper called - I did a very big washing. Jenns here in eve, brought more things home.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1953 We went to Mass- Pauls came over to help husk the corn. Lillian came along to spend the day-she helped with the dinner. I got all my ironing done on the ironer- We kept Bens boys in the eve while they went to a show. Card from Pat & Glenn. Gene to party with Rosie at Jenns.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 14, 1953 Dad didn't go to Mass today- Lillian took me & children down to Mass and I came home with Louise - Lillian canned applesauce here today. I ironed on the ironer- we had a good dinner - Louise over. Card from Pat & Glenn.


THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1953 Dad didn't go to Mass again today- Lillian took us down & waited for us -I ironed some more by hand- good dinner- Louise over-card from P & G. Novena in eve.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16, 1953 We went to Mass- Paul didn't help today - Lillian didn't come down - Dad started at Wards but had to stop because his cribs were not ready. Another card from P & G. Went downtown with Louise in P.M., got glasses fixed.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1953 We went to Mass -then Dad went downtown after breakfast. I worked hard getting a good dinner for company- Gert & Nick, his parents-had a good visit with Mr. & Mrs. N. Pat & Glenn got home about 11:00 P.M. - stayed here all night.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1953 Dad & I & Moe & Len went to 7:30 Mass - Pat & Glenn here for breakfast-then went to 10:15 Mass, then on out to Glenns folks for dinner. In the P.M. they took their gifts out to their home- Dad & I went to West Liberty for supper-then back to St. Mary -for the evening service of the Living Rosary.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1953 Dad & I went to Mass -I cleaned up the house pretty well & sewed some- gradually getting back to normal- Pat came out after work. Dad & I went to chili supper, then got Stanley stuff at Bessie's. Wrote to Minnie.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1953 We went to Mass as usual- I worked around here & Pat was out for dinner - came for me after work & I went home with her. Were at Kaspers for supper - Carl, Louise & Charles came in eve. We helped get things straightened up. Louise helped me set out plants.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21, 1953 We went to Mass - then I did my big washing today - very windy, but got them dry - Ben over for water in the eve- no company today. Sewed in the evening. Wrote to Ann.


THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1953 We went to Mass-I dampened clothes, wrote letters to Bro. John & Lawrence - I got all my ironing done- Louie helped me some- Dad & I went to Novena & confession in the eve

FRIDAY,OCTOBER 23, 1953 Went to Mass as usual -I cleaned up the house, mended- made pies etc-getting ready for company. Gert, Nick, Robbie, Maurice all came in time for supper. I went to parade & Rosary for Mrs. Kasper. Gerald's - Mary & boys & Joyce - Lyles, Pat & Glenn & Virg. here in eve.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24, 1953 Went to Mass -then after breakfast Dad went to funeral. I went to hair dresser, got my hair fixed - Gert worked at the dinner- Gert, Nick Moe & Gene went to football game Iowa beat Indiana - Pat & Glenn, Virg. here in P.M.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25, 1953 Dad & I went to 6:00 clock Mass, then hurried home & got ready for our trip to Nebraska -left home at 8:35 A.M., go there at 4:15 P.M., had a nice evening with them -showed . some pictures, went to bed early, had a good nights rest.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1953 Went to Mass with Uncle John. Visited, helped around a little, slept a little in afternoon. Showed more pictures in eve, and went to bed early - Wrote letter to Bens.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1953 We went to Mass with Uncle John - Same as yesterday, visited, dishes & meals. In the P.M. went to Booths for eggs, took Aunt Minnie for the ride - Showed pictures in eve again & to bed early. Wrote cards to boys, Louise, Wilma & Myrtle -letter to Pat.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1953 Went to Mass with Uncle John - sent letter to Wilma - Usual quiet day -In P.M. got plants, tomatoes, pears etc - ready to take home - showed more pictures in eve - got to bed in good time as usual.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1953 Went to Mass with Uncle John, lit my candle as usual, had a good breakfast & packed our lunch-left around 9:15 A.M. We had a very good trip, got home at 4:30 P.M. Louise here & had supper started - Dad & I went to Novena in evening.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30, 1953 We went to 8:00 Mass for the opening of the Forty Hours, then I did what washing was needed - Moe came home as usual. We went to Devotions in eve -Joann & Mike went along. Bens here for supper. Lyles here in eve - Lots of Halloweeners. Glenn's folks came to Halloween us. Glenn & Pat stayed all night, came out for breakfast.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1953 We went to Mass at 8:00. Mickey came over to go with us - Pat & Glenn went at 6:30. Usual busy Saturday. Pauls all here for dinner, heard from Larry - he is coming home. Went to Devotions in eve - Joann went along.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass - Women's Sunday - Pat & Glenn here for breakfast- After dinner Dad & I- Ben & Joann went to Hills to see little Anne Elizabeth baptized. B & J stood up for her- Went home by Lyles, saw them & Eds - stopped at church, Ben went to confession. Moe, Ben & Gene went hunting in a.m. Dad kept the children in eve, Ben, Joann & I went to church. -

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass - took Pauls kids & Mike & Kenny - as Ben went to 7:00 Mass - I cleaned up the house, looking for Larry, he didn't come- Pat & Glenn here for supper then they took Dad & I, we went to Myrtles -then they bought her dining room suite & cupboard.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass - still looking for Larry but he didn't come - Pat came out for dinner & then did her washing - Moe came home and in the eve- he took Dad & I, Carl, Louise & Charles out to chivari Pat & Glenn - we had a nice time.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1953 We went to Mass - still looking for Larry - Moe thinks he meant he was starting next Sunday -I did a good sized washing today- Went to basketball game, St. Mary's got beat by Oxford.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1953 Went to Mass - Joann came over & went to town, left the 4 boys here - stayed for dinner & they all stayed for supper- Dad & I went to Novena in eve-I did my machine ironing today.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1953 First Friday - Went to Mass, 17 above zero this morning. Cleaning up the house some more today- Louise came over & finished my ironing - Lyles came in the eve- played cards.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1953 Went to Mass- Moe & Gene too -cleaned up the house some more, baked cake, made fruit salad getting ready for Pops birthday party. Bens here for a while in P.M.


SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1953 Dad is 71 years old today. Dad & I & the 3 boys went to 7:30 Mass- Pat & Glenn went to 9:00 & then came out for breakfast. We all went to Eds for dinner- Dad & I & Moe stayed for supper. Eds, Gerald's ,Pauls, Bens Lyles, Louise all came in eve, good time, nice gifts, 3 8 here.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 1953 Went to Mass- don't feel good today, upset stomach and cold in head & face. Cleaned up some-around here- Laurence & George came around 2:00 P.M.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 1953 Went to Mass- decided I better wash today- Laurence & George went to Eds this P.M. and stayed there for supper-I cleaned up the house some more- had waffles for supper. Sent insurance.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1953 Armistice Day, Pheasant season. We went to Mass- Laurence & George went hunting with Ben up at Delhi. Pat came out for dinner and we got her washing done- Lyle came out to let us know RoseAnn was in hospital for appendicitis operation so Pat went down & stayed with Libb. Ball game in eve, St. Mary's beat Cosgrove ? 58-25.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1953 Went to Mass- Laurence & George went hunting with Eds today up by Walker-I wrote letters to Myrtle & Sister M, sent card to RoseAnn - got big supper for the hunters Ed & Murphy-also Pat & Glenn here for supper- Dad & & went to the hospital to see Roseann & then to Novena & confession.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1953 Dad & I went to Mass - had early breakfast for the hunters, they went with Ed again today. I wrote letters to Minnie & Bro. John and to Wilma. Hunters got home late. Kept supper for them but they were not very hungry. Lyles children herein the eve & L & E here after visiting RA in hospital. Made 2 apple pies, 1 peach pie.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1953 Went to Mass- Moe & Gene too. The men didn't go hunting today, played around with Gene & Moe - Moe went to big ballgame in P.M. Iowa beat Minnesota 27-0, at the game-temp 70- We kept Robby & Jimmy-I was awfully nervous in eve.


SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass- Dad & I with Leonard - Moe & Larry together. All went to communion - Gene took Joann & 3 boys to 9:00 Mass- all here for dinner & supper. Pat & Glenn here for breakfast & dinner. Ben came a little after 4:00 from hunting trip to Delhi - the Dietsch's all here in eve.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 1953 We went to Mass- Leonard, Larry & George went hunting today-had supper with Nick got 5 pheasants. I worked until 20 to 1:00 getting them cleaned - went to baseball game in eve - St. Mary's lost to Dyersville 48 to 46.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1953 Went to Mass - the men are done hunting now - In P.M. Larry & Gene visited Wilma, Libbs, Eds & Harold - Lillian & Johnie down today, she helped me good, got dinner & helped with dishes etc. I washed - Louise helped hang them out & get them down. The men & Gene & Pat & Glenn went skating.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 1953 Went to Mass-I worked around here, got a big dinner for the men & waffles & sausages for supper. The men packed most of their things & got the car ready to go - Eds & Gerald's came in eve, Mary & Pauline brought cakes, we had ice cream & cake for Larry's last eve. Pat & Mrs. Kasper were here, also Rosalen?

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1953 Larry 30 yrs old today. We went to Mass as usual- I got up at 3:30 & made coffee for the men - got up again at 4:00 & made their breakfast. Larry & George left at 4:45 A.M. Went back to bed for a while-got my ironing finished today- Louise came over & helped. Lillian & Johnie here again today, she helped me some in P.M. Dad & I went to Aunt Annas. Wrote letter to Bro. John. Len got a shot gun.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 1953 Went to Mass as usual. We canned our pears today. Dad helped peel them & then later on Louie came over & helped finish them. We got 25 qts.-In eve Joann & I went to Libbs for Stanley party. Dad & Ben kept the children.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 1953 Went to Mass- Lillian & the family herein a.m. She went downtown with Dad -they were all here for dinner. Len & Gene went hunting with Ben-I got my hair fixed at 1:00 P.M. - also went to visit Marge at the hospital.


SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1953 Dad & I & Moe went to 6:00 Mass. Gene & Rosie to 6:30, Pat & Glenn to 7:30. 1 fixed a nice breakfast for all of them but no one came- Gene had to go to Rosies place for breakfast about 9:00 we left for Sister M -got there by 11:00, had a good trip & nice time, home shortly after 8:00 P.M.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1953 Went to Mass - I wrote to Sister. Dad went downtown - Did my big washing. Louise came over & hung out most of my clothes for me- Gene took a carload of boys to C.R. for game with St. Wenc. -they lost 50 to 48.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1953 Went to Mass -took clothes in for clothing collection. Sent money for cards with names for Christmas - also card to Wilma, did some ironing but didn't get done - Pat herein P.M. washing.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1953 Went to Mass as usual. Joann came over before noon and went shopping -I kept the children- In the P.M. Dad & I went to Novena & confession & then I visited Marge at hospital. We went to baseball game in eve, St. Pat C.R. beat us 24 points. Lyles & Pauls here in the eve. Louise finished my ironing.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 1953 Thanksgiving Day- We all went to Mass but Leonard, he helped Fritz -then came home & we & Bens family went to Wilmas for big Thanksgiving dinner -it snowed quite hard, 1 inch in Iowa City. Men went hunting, got 2 pheasants, 6 rabbits. Eds, Pauls Ben's families all here for supper, 28 of us.

FRIDAY ,NOVEMBER 27, 1953 Went to Mass -I worked all forenoon & part of afternoon on mail for cards etc -that was sent to us, also letter to Bro. John & Sister M - cards to Marge & Phyllis. Pat & Glenn came for supper, then she went to practice for a wedding, then came back & did part of her ironing - awful tired & did as usual.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1953 Dad & I & Gene went to Mass-busy with the usual Sat. work - Ben & Gene went hunting in P.M. Gene & Moe went to GlobeTrotters game in eve- Lento C.R. to Christmas party of Coca-Cola. We kept Bens kids, they took Kenny to show.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1953 Dad & I & Moe went to 7:30 Mass - Gene, Len & Bens to 9:00. Pat & Glenn were out for breakfast. Gene went to Rosalen for dinner. Dad & I went with Lyle, Libb & Rita to Harolds, were there for supper - no company this eve.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1953 Gene is 19 yrs. old today, got an attack of appendicitis before he went to work so went to Dr. Jenkinson, he sent him to Dr. Scanlon - he sent him to the hospital at once - operation tomorrow. Dad & I went to Mass- went down to the hospital in the eve-I worked.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1, 1953 We went to Mass as usual- after breakfast I went to the hospital, Gene back in his room at 10:30 A.M., got along real good. Dad came in & Pat & I went home for dinner -then I went back again at 3:45, stayed until evening-hours were about over- he was coming along real good.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1953 Went to Mass- Lillian here today with Ronny & Johnny, both sick - Dad took them to the Dr. before noon -I went in theP.M.from12:00 until time to take the kids home - Rainy afternoon, he was getting along fine- We kept Bens boys in the eve while they went to Myrtles - Pat & Glenn, Rosie, Libb & Lyle to see Gene tonight.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1953 Went to Mass- Lillian & the sick children here again today - Went to the Dr. late this P.M. - Dad & I went to see Gene, then to Novena & home. Pat & Glenn here for supper & then they went to see Gene-I made the Holy Hour, Rainy night as usual.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4, 1953 Went to Mass - sent card to Gene, Minnie, Pats, thanks to Margaret & letter for Sister M -book-Busy day as usual- Moe & I went to see Gene & brought his flowers home.

SATURDAY,DECEMBER 5, 1953 Went to Mass- we kept Bens & Pauls children today & Bens here, 13 here for supper, then they went to a show & confession. Pauls all here for dinner, 20 all together. Gene got home today.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6, 1953 Women's Sunday- We went to 7:30 Mass, hurried home, got breakfast, took care of Ben's kids, then they went home - Lyles & Wilma & 4 of her children came in P.M. I was terribly tired- Pat & Glenn came for supper. Pauline & Jerry in eve. P & Glenn stayed all night.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 7, 1953 We went to Mass. Gene not feeling quite so good today - Dad & I went downtown & shopped awhile, then went to confession. Went to bball game in eve - Gene did too. Mailed pkg. to Larry.


TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1953 Holy Day. We went to 7:00 Mass. Joann & boys here & also Lillian & family today. Joann went shopping with Louise this a.m. I got good dinner & went shopping with her in P.M.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1953 Went to Mass-turned out to be a very stormy day - Lillian came in & Gene took her to the hospital about 11:30 A.M. I kept Johnie- I did my washing -Louise took it over & hung them up in her basement. Had the little girls here all night.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1953 Went to Mass- (news clipping of birth covering some writing) Home with Johnie. Pauls & Lillian's baby girl born a little before 5:00 P.M. I kept the 3 children again all night Dad & I went down around from 11 to 12 & shopped.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 1953 Went to Mass. Dad stayed home again with Johnie. I wrote some letters & sent some cards- Paul took all the children home this eve- Pat & Glenn out & washed, stayed, all home tonight.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12, 1953 We all went to Mass - Paul brought the family in before noon - here for dinner- Bens brought theirs in P.M. - We kept them all P.M. & for supper & in eve until they quit shopping. Pat & Glenn, Gerald & Pauline herein eve. Paul brought goose & Christmas tree.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13, 1953 Dad & I & Moe went to 7:30 Mass. Bens, Len & Gene to 9:00, we kept the children. Paul brought his family after the 9:00 Mass, were here for dinner - I invited Louise's over so she could help me - we also made cookies to send Bro. John. Louise & I went to the hospital to see Lillian & baby.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 14, 1953 We went to Mass as usual- Gene sprained his ankle this morn - so couldn't go - We went shopping, did pretty good - went again in P.M. not so good. Lillian went home from hospital.


TUESDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1953 Went to Mass-then hurried home to get ready to go to Hills for the celebration of their Golden Jubilee 10:00 at St. Josephs - Sister Margaretta was there as companion to Sister Yvonne. We had a wonderful visit with her in the P.M. at the hall & convent. Pretty cold, a little stormy.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 1953 Went to Mass-Joann had the car today so came over early -she took me downtown to visit with Sister Margaretta at the Mercy Hospital. I also had lunch with the Sisters & Mildred K. We took them back to Hills early in the P.M.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, 1953 We went to Mass as usual, then I got more Christmas cards ready - Dad got the pictures fixed. We were downtown & about got finished with our shopping, then went to Novena - and picked up the school kids. I made my Holy Hour & did the washing. Pat here eve while Glenn played for dance-they stayed all night. 8 below this morning.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18, 1953 We went to Mass- Elizabeth's birthday -they were here for a while in the eve -last day of school before vacation. Joann made a lot of pumpkin pies 1 2

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19, 1953 We went to Mass- Ben brought us 8 pies- we put part of them in the deep freeze -Pals baby Linda Marie was baptized this P.M. Then they shopped. I went along to see it baptized - Moe came home this eve.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1953 Went to 7:30 Mass as usual. Kept children as usual. Pauls here for dinner -then Lillian went to the program, also Ben & Joann - Dad kept the 4 boys. In eve we wrapped some gifts.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 21, 1953 Went to Mass - I did my washing, not too big - then worked on my Christmas cards.


TUESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1953 Went to Mass-finished cards today & wrapped more gifts - St. Pats beat St. Mary's in basketball game- Pat & Glenn came- were herein eve-then Glenn had to play for CYO dance after the S.P. & S.M. game, they stayed all night.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23, 1953 Went to Mass - Joann and the children here today-she & Louise shopped in the a.m. -In the P.M. she wrapped gifts for me - while Dad & I went downtown to confession & shopped a little more -then after Ben got off from work -they went to confession -then shopped again in the evening.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24, 1953 Went to Mass - Pauls came in to finish their shopping - all were here for dinner & Ronny stayed all night- Pat & Glenn came for supper and stayed all night. I had along hard day -getting ready for Christmas & cleaning up the house- we opened gifts in eve.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 25, 1953 Christmas Day - all went to the 6:00 Mass, had a good breakfast but Pat & Glenn didn't stay - went out to his folks instead. Had the dinner & supper & Christmas tree over at Louises - all came but Gertrude & family - 52 present- Pat & Glenn came in the P.M.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 26, 1953 Went to Mass - Ben's family here for dinner, he sawed wood for Eldon in the P.M. she went downtown - Pat & Glenn out for supper & all night.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 27, 1953 Went to 7:30 Mass- Pat & Glenn also - he took his car down to be washed so asked us all out to their place for dinner- Dad & I- Moe & Gene went- also his folks, Grandma K, Bobs family, Virg. & Darlene -had a nice time.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 28, 1953 Went to Mass - then back at 9:00 o'clock for Johnie Maiers wedding. Pat was Matron of Honor, Glenn was Best Man-they came out for supper & rested before the dance- Gene took basketball players to Burlington -they won over Burlington.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 29, 1953 Went to Mass - I washed today - hung clothes both outside & inside - they dried real good - Gene took players to Burlington again tonight-they beat St. Johns of Vinton -so get to play in the finals- Gene took Leonards car & ran out of gas- didn't get home until around 3:00 A.M.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1953 Went to Mass -I ironed today- Gene went to Burlington again tonight, used our car- St. Mary's lost to Clinton but won 2nd place in the tournament.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 31, 1953 Went to Mass- finished the ironing, cleaned up the house. Pat & Glenn brought Louise's eggs out- before they went to the Eagles to dance Glenn was playing for. Len out celebrating in C.R. Gene over at Rosie's. Dad & I & Moe alone.

1953- was quite a big year for us-as we gained a new son-in-law
