April

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1, 1953 We went to Mass as usual. I did some ironing. Dad & I went to Novena in the P.M. and to confession. Len out this eve- Pat went with Pauls to Novena this eve-then Glenn got her & they went to Junior Farm Bureau.

THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 1953 We all went to Mass. Dad & I took Pat down so she could get to Communion at 7:30, our Mass was at 8:30. Gene was a server & carried incense in procession. Ronnie also in procession. Pat worked until 10:30 tonight. Devotions this eve.

FRIDAY, APRIL 3, 1953 Good Friday. We went for Holy Hour at 6:00 until 7:00, Dad & I & Ben. Ben ate breakfast here & then took Pat to work - Gene went at 8:00, Dad & I went for 8:30, pre-sanctified Mass- Home & Dad went downtown in forenoon- after dinner he & Gene cut down some trees along Bens lane -then Dad & I went to Services at 3:00 P.M. then downtown for groceries. Home, had supper & went to Stations at 7:30 P.M. Pat home about 11:20 P.M.

SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 1953 Holy - Gene had to be down to serve at 6:30 so left at 6:10 A.M. Len took Pat so she could go to work at 7:00. Dad & I went to church at 7:00, all very lovely services, had a busy day-got my hair fixed at 4:00, home & got supper. Had Bens here for dinner- Ben & Joann & Dad all went to a sale- B & J went to show in eve, -we kept the boys. Gert & family came about 11:40, Pat worked until 12:00.

SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 1953 Easter - Dad & I - Len & Moe & Gene went to 7:30 Mass - Gene was one of the masters of ceremonies. Pat went to work at 8:00,then went to 10:15. Glenn brought her home. Gert & Nick went to 9:00 Mass -then we all went to Elizabeths for Easter celebration of our 43rd anniversary. All the families were there including our 30 grandchildren, 52 of us - 13 guests - Glenn & Veatress & Harold.

MONDAY, APRIL 6, 1953 43rd Wedding Anniversary. We went to 7:30 Mass - quite a nice day - Gene had vacation so he & Ronny helped me good in the garden & we got it cleaned off real good - I was pretty tired but glad to have it done- Dad worked over at Bens house.

TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass- Gene served this morning. All back to school again- Dad & I went downtown after Mass - got clothes at cleaners & bread at A&P, tape for walls - Dad worked over at Bens all day-I did washing, cleaned up the house- Len traded off his Nash on a Mercury. Gene went skating.'

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass-Sort of a rainy morning-Dad & Lillian went downtown - Pat came home at noon with Leonard- washed her hair in P.M. -did some ironing for me etc-I got all the ironing done-Pat & Glenn went to a patty for Johnie Maiers- Len went out to a dance in his new car. Murder tonight, woman & girl killed south of town.

THURSDAY, APRIL 9, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass- Pat to St. Wenc. as usual- Dad took Joann downtown this a.m. I kept the boys-rained so he took her home before dinner, then he went over there to work again-I did some mending in P.M. - Dad & I went to Novena in eve- Gene went to C.Y.O. meeting.

FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 1953 We went to 7:30 Mass as usual-I worked around all day - starting to get things ready for Sunday. Glenn surprised Pat & came in for awhile.

SATURDAY, APRIL 11, 1953 We went to Mass as usual -I had a busy day getting ready for company on Sunday Joann & the children here for dinner- went home early- Ben worked long days all week

SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 1953 Dad & I- Moe & Len went to 7:30 Mass- then I hurried & made my pies & got the things sort of started for dinner then - Dad & I went back for the 10:15 High Mass, Thanksgiving Mass for us- Lyles family & Glen & Joann & boys here for dinner- all for supper but Pat & Glenn.

MONDAY, APRIL 13, 1953 We went to Mass- a pretty decent day and I washed - got most of them dried - Pat home this eve & started to take things out of her room.

TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 1953 We went to Mass- Pat went with us- as she has today off- she got the things out of her room & Dad & she got one coat of paint on her walls. Dad & I & Gene went to basketball banquet. Glenn came in this eve.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 1953 We went to Mass, a soft of a rainy, snowy day - Ben didn't work so he took Joann out to Oxford -I kept the children - Dad worked more on the walls & woodwork of her room.

THURSDAY, APRIL 16, 1953 We went to Mass- Dad worked more on Pats room & hall-then went over to Bensin P.M. to work on their room. Dad & I went to Novena, to confession in eve- Pat & Glenn went with Bud Woods to C.R. to show. Bens went to drive-in.

FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 1953 We went to Mass- and Dad finished the hall in the forenoon, went over to Bens & finished all but the last coat of paint on the woodwork - Joann & the children were overall day- Pat home in the P.M. - after Gene came home he took Pat & I down town to buy curtains & paint. Ben & Joann went shopping.

SATURDAY, APRIL 18, 1953 We went to Mass - went to Big B. after Mass, got part of groceries - Dad went down later & did more shopping at A & P. I was busy all day getting my floors cleaned & waxed. Gene waxed them for me -Joann & children here for supper. Dad went to a sale, took Joann downtown. Pat & Glenn went to drive-in.

SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 1953 Dad & I- Moe & Len went to 7:30 Mass- then I had Pauls family over for dinner & Gerald & Pauline also came - but left early in P.M. to visit other places- Gene helped Ben saw wood - Pauls stayed for supper -Wilmas came so she took me & Carol & Nancy to music recital. Gene sang with St. Mary's ? festival ?.

MONDAY, APRIL 20, 1953 A very nice day - We went to Mass- then I washed 11 batches today -so was pretty tired -Pat & Glenn, Gene & Rosy all went to St. Mary's skating party- Len went to Cedar Rapids to Coca Cola meeting.

TUESDAY, APRIL 21, 1953 We went to Mass - still nice weather so I washed more clothes, blankets, curtains, davenport cover etc. etc. Pat at home this eve- Dad- Len & Gene went over to Bens & laid the new tile on the kitchen floor, got home about 11:45-avtired out.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22, 1953 We went to Mass - after breakfast I went with Dad over to Ben's & washed the windows in the kitchen for Joann while Dad finished the floor. Then we went to town before dinner -I got hose & underwear- Pat came home with us. Paul & Lillian came over & helped cut potatoes & plant them, also helped plant our garden -they were here for supper.

THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 1953 We all went to Mass as usual, took clothes to the cleaners for Pat, Moe, Joann & Lillian. I wrote letters to Mine & Eliz - card to Myrtle - In the P.M. Joann went downtown shopping. I kept the children, ironed pants & shirts. Dad & I went to novena in eve. Pat shellacked shadow? Bens here for supper.

FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 1953 Went to Mass-rainy morning- Music Festival today - Gene went, he & Alberhasky the only Senior boys - I wrote letters to Anna, Bro. John & Pauline - Mrs. Dohrer called to say that Pauline had the mumps- Dad got more done at Ben's & practically finished -rainy forenoon

SATURDAY, APRIL 25, 1953 Went to Mass as usual-cleaned up the house pretty good. Ben's went downtown & left the children here, went to drive-in in the eve -left Stevie here - Dad went to a sale & got my Ducan Phiffe drop leaf table.

SUNDAY, APRIL 26, 1953 Dad & I- Moe & Len went to 7:30 Mass- Pat & Gene to 9:00, Bens to 10:15 Mass- Pat & Len stayed home today & the rest of us went to Libbs for dinner in honor of Roseann's & David birthday. Mary & Ed & 3 little ones were here for supper.

MONDAY, APRIL 27, 1953 We went to Mass -then I did my washing. Ben didn't work today so took Joann to Dr. this P.M. - Dad took Pat & I downtown this eve & got my Mothers day dress from Pat, Len, Moe & Gene.

TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 1953 Went to Mass- Joann called & wanted Dad to get her & the children as she didn't feel good- he took her to the hospital & she stayed until around 4:00 & came back-they stayed here all night.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29, 1953 Went to Mass- Ben & family still here. Ben took her to the Dr. in P.M. - he doesn't know what's the matter with her, such a sore mouth-they went home in eve- Ben gave up his job to take care of her. Libb & little folks up today, she helped me get more things done for Pat's room.

THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 1953 We went to Mass- Rainy day- Lillian & Johnie came over, she helped me with my ironing & was here for dinner in the P.M. I washed up some of our dirty clothes, 3 batches & then 8 batches for Bens Dad & I went to Novena & confession in eve.

FRIDAY, MAY 1, 1953 First Friday - We went to Mass as usual-then Dad took me downtown after breakfast. I got my permanent & glasses fixed. Ben took Joann back to the Dr.- he still doesn't know what she has. Gene went to Dr., he has strep throat, got a shot. Rainy weather.

SATURDAY, MAY 2, 1953 We went to Mass as usual- Pat had to go to work at 7:00 A.M. Len took her- Gene had to go back to Dr. for another shot- but is feeling better, went over to Rosie's tonight Libb & Lyle -3 little boys came up -she helped me finish my work & also fixed my dress & get things ready to take to Sister's.

SUNDAY, MAY 3, 1953 We all went to 6:00 Mass - Glenn was there too & came out for breakfast- Moe, Dad & I, Pat & Glenn left for Sister's about 8:20 a.m. -and stopped at Dickeyville for a little sight seeing -then on to Sister's - got there about 10:30 - had a wonderful time - we went to May Devotions at 2:00 P.M. We left Sisters a little after 4:30 and got to Louises after 6:15, had a good birthday supper for Charles birthday- got home about 10:30 & 11:00 P.M. -

MONDAY, MAY 4, 1953 We went to Mass- not too tired today- did a good sized washing, then went to Seniors Play in the evening. Pat worked overtime- Glenn picked her up at the store.

TUESDAY, MAY 5, 1953 We went to Mass. Raining again - I wrote to Sister M. & sent it with Gene's graduation invitation. Dad took Joann to the Dr. & I stayed with the kids & ironed for her. I ironed at home in eve - Pat worked late. Len to meeting in C.R. Mike broke out with measles pretty bad. Made my Holy Hour.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 1953 We went to Mass-cloudy morning -I did my hand ironing today-off & on all day but finally finished. Junior- Senior Prom tonight- Gene took Rose F.- Pat & Glenn to Junior Farm Bureau.

THURSDAY, MAY 7, 1953 We went to Mass - Gene went too after his big night. Lillian came over & helped this a.m. Gene washed walls in bathroom & kitchen-I washed pillows & pads from porch also kitchen & b room curtains & helped clean. Dad & I went to Novena.

FRIDAY, MAY 8, 1953 We went to Mass- as usual - didn't have any help today- but finally managed to get the kitchen woodwork washed - Lyles here in eve - Pat worked until about 1:00 o'clock. Dad took Joann & Mickey to the Dr-I kept the boys.

SATURDAY, MAY 9, 1953 We went to Mass - took Catherine, she stayed down for her first confession & practice for First Holy Communion tomorrow. Dad went to sale in P.M., bought a rocking chair didn't feel like work today. I worked long until very late- Pat got home about 1:00 A.M.

SUNDAY, MAY 10, 1953 Mother's Day - Catherine Milders & Bobby Frantz - First Holy Communion day. Mickey couldn't make his on account of having the measles- Maurice went to 6:00 Mass-then Pat went to work & worked until 12:30. Dad & I & Len went to 7:00 Mass - Ben & Gene went to 9:00, Joann & Mickey didn't go. We had Mother's Day here- Eds, Pauls, Wilmas, Louises all came- Roseann, Marilyn & Joe only ones of Libbs as Rita was sick Laurence called in the eve- Pauline & Jerry herein eve. Mission opened today, we all went in the eve, Ben went with us.

MONDAY, MAY 11, 1953 We went to 7:15 Mass - Pat stayed in bed & slept this morning - then rested all forenoon I hoed in flower bed & cleaned up the house- sent Spiritual Bouquet card to Minnie. Hoed or raked in the garden this P.M. In the eve Pat & I wept with Ben 64 Joann to church. Joann went to confession & was enrolled with the Miraculous Medal.

TUESDAY, MAY 12, 1953 We went to Mass - Joann called, said she wasn't feeling very good. I called Dad up downtown at 10:00 & he brought Ben home-they went to the hospital around noon, baby boy born after 4 P.M. -all getting along pretty good. Dad stayed with the children again tonight, 4 of them sick, Mike went back to school today. Dad & I went back & forth helping. (Paper clipping)

WEDNESDAY, MAY 13, 1953 Dad went to 6:00 Mass-then took I-Joann over to stay with Ben's boys. I went to 7:15 Mass with Gene & school kids - I wrote letter to Bro. John, cards to Wilma & Mary. I ironed 9 shirts today & left the rest of the ironing. Stay with Bens boys tonight. Ben & Mickey went to church with us.

THURSDAY, MAY 14, 1953 Ascension Day- Dad went over & stayed with the boys when Ben went to Mass- Pat & I went with him - Dad & Mickey & Gene went to 8:00 Mass -I stayed over at Bens all day, home in time to get supper-. In the eve Ben & Mike went to services - he to the hospital. Crowning of May Queen tonight, Phyllis carried the crown.

FRIDAY, MAY 15, 1953 This morning Dad went to 6:30 Mass, the rest of us to 7:15, then he took Lillian over so Ben could go to work. I kept Johnie, washed & ironed for Bens- did part of my ironing & stayed in the eve again with the boys.

SATURDAY, MAY 16, 1953 We all went to 7:15 Mass from here this morn - as Ben was at home to watch the boys. Dad & I went over around 11:00 and stayed until around 1:00 P.M. Ben got Joann - they shopped some & came home. Eds here on way home from Sister's.

SUNDAY, MAY 17, 1953 Dad & I & Len went to 6:00 Mass. Len took Dad & I over to Bens & we stayed there for breakfast & watched the little ones while Ben & Joann & Mickey went to Mass. Mike made his first Holy Communion. Ben brought us home as it rained a little, got pictures of Mike, also Phyllis & Catherine. Moe & Ben & Mike went fishing.

MONDAY, MAY 18, 1953 We went to 7:15 Mass, last day of Mission & Novena to our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Very large crowd in eve. Ben went with us - Joann came over & washed her hair & she & the children stayed here, all are much better- I washed today.

TUESDAY, MAY 19, 1953 We went to Mass at 7:30, Pat to St. Wenc. - at 7:00, we picked her up - I went to the garden & hoed all forenoon- after dinner I did my work & then went to get my hair fixed by 3 to 5. Dad busy plowing & disking today and I busy getting ready for picnic tomorrow. Lyles herein eve.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 1953 Went to 7:30 Mass - Class day for the Seniors - I went along to the picnic - Gene drove Len's car- We took Rosie, Bob Rogers & Marge Hedges-had a very nice time.

THURSDAY, MAY 21, 1953 Went to Mass as usual-I was pretty tired but managed to get the hand ironing done. Bens herein eve.

FRIDAY, MAY 22, 1953 Went to Mass- did some washing today- getting ready for Sunday-ironed on ironer in eve,- finished 20 min to 1:00 a.m. Lyles here in the eve. SATURDAY, MAY 23, 1953 Went to Mass, a very busy day. Gene went down yesterday or today to see about getting a job at A. & P., got application to fill out

SUNDAY, MAY 24, 1953 Eugene's graduation day- Maurice went to 6:00 Mass- Dad & I & Pat & Len went to 9:00 for the Seniors Mass- as they came in caps & gowns. Maurice - Gert & Nick & children- Ben & Joann went to Sisters -we kept Bens 6 boys- In the eve Gene graduated & all the families came but Louises & Wilmas. Glenn here for all meals today - Rosie here in eve, Gene rec'd special gift for outstanding Sanctuary Service - 45 here.

MONDAY, MAY 25, 1953 Hot day - We went to 7:30 Mass - then I did the washing - Glenn & Pat went out riding & Gene took his application down to A & P store to get signed up for job.

TUESDAY, MAY 26, 1953 Went to 7:30 Mass-I worked in the garden. Dad started planting corn today - Gene went down for his physical-he gets job, starts work tomorrow. Glenn's mother had operation today.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, 1953 We went to Mass as usual- Gene started work at A. & P. today - I went to shower for Mary Rita Bushman tonight, gave her Mr. & Mrs. pillow cases. Dad finished planting. Worked in garden.

THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1953 Went to Mass as usual- went downtown before noon - got groceries, seeds & plants, brought the school kids home -in the P.M. we set out plants & planted garden - went to visit Mrs. Kasper this eve.

FRIDAY, MAY 29, 1953 Went to Mass- Dad took Lillian downtown to buy shoes for the kids & paint for the house -also all the kids to get their report cards. I kept all Bens boys in P.M. while Dad took Joann down town-I did all my ironing. Dad &I went to cemetery in W.L., had supper with V & H.

SATURDAY, MAY 30, 1953 Decoration Day- Len & Pat went to St. Wenc. to Mass as Len had to work - Dad & I -Moe & Gene went to 7:30 Mass - Moe left at noon to go home & to the races at C.R. I worked hard all day- washed, scrubbed porches etc. etc.- planted zinnias & nasturtium seeds, we set out glad bulbs.

SUNDAY, MAY 31, 1953 Dad & I & Len went to 7:30 Mass, Pat & Gene to 9:00, Glenn came for dinner - late in the P.M. they went out & did chores - then back for supper- Ben's family were here in the eve- We went for a drive to look at Pauls farm.

MONDAY, JUNE 1 , 1953 Went to Mass as usual A nice day -I worked in the garden setting out house plants in the forenoon. In the afternoon I went to the hospital in the P.M. -to visit Mrs. Kasper - Pat & Glenn went in the eve & then to a dance.

TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 1953 Went to Mass - wrote big letter to Aunt Minnie, then had Watkins man & dinner at 11:00 kept me hustling - Washed and got most all of them dry- Coronation day of Queen Elizabeth. Mrs. Yoder & I watched television this eve.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 1953 Went to Mass-hoed all forenoon, got 11:00 dinner for Gene- Pat & Len came after 12:00 as Pat had the P.M. off, talked to Mrs. Kasper on phone - Pat drove the Nash downtown twice this P.M. to shop - Got me & herself an everyday white hat. Gene bought his car- Glenn & Pat went to hospital. Bens went to show, left Larry here.

THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 1953 Went to Mass as usual & picked Pat up at St. Pats - I wrote Bro. John & Louise today. No one home for dinner today, only Dad & I-I did the hand ironing. We left around 5:30 and met Gene at garage so he got his car-then we went to Stadium Barracks-bought our rug.

FRIDAY, JUNE 5, 1953 Went to 7:30 Mass - took Pauls 3 children & Pat - as she could receive Holy Communion before Mass today-I worked at my ironing & finished it- Bens shopped a little, were herein eve, also Libbs- Eds & Pauls- Pat & Glenn went to a show. Maurice came home - showed us pictures.

SATURDAY, JUNE 6, 1953 To Mass as usual- Moe drove for us - Busy all day, washed clothes and straightened up house some - very tired - Bens shopped in P.M. -left children here -they were also here for supper, then went to drive-in in the eve- We kept Stevie & Larry- Glenn showed us his pictures.

SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 1953 Glenn & Pat went to 6:30 Mass at St. Wenc., then she was out at Kaspers all day - Dad & I & Moe & Len went to 7:30, Gene & Bens to 9:00. Sort of quiet day. Moe & Bens family went to Eds in P.M. Dad went with Pauls to farm-Len went to CYO picnic a while - Gene & Rosie went riding - Wilmas, Gerald's & Pauls here in eve.

MONDAY, JUNE 8, 1953 Went to Mass - Pat went up to the gallery to help with music - I wrote letter to Laurence, mailed Press Citizen subscription- Dad & Lillian went downtown. I ironed. Dad put screens & screen doors on over at Bens- We went to Aunt Annas in eve

TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 1953 We went to Mass as usual- Pat had to go to work at 7:30. Rosie forgot there was a Mass- so no High Mass today -I worked in garden in P.M. & pulled weeds. We set out tomatoes & cabbage, I set out cosmas too. Got my shoes.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 1953 We went to Mass- I did the washing today - Gene at home today, got a hair cut & car greased - put up screens & washed windows- Pat went out for party after chivarie.

THURSDAY, JUNE 11, 1953 We went to Mass - Pat to St. Wenc. - I wrote letter to Bro. John & card to Myrtle - got dinner for Pat & Gene by 11:00. Ironed in P.M. - went to Novena in eve- starting to get ready to go to retreat.

FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 1953 Went to Mass- a busy day, went downtown in a.m. -got my hair fixed, did a little shopping -after dinner did dishes & packed & had early supper, got a ride to Marycrest with Mr. & Mrs. Schmitt left Iowa City after 5:30-gotroom no-105 with Helen Madden. First conference very interesting, went to confession - Bed a little after 10:00 P.M.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 1953 Up about 6:30, Mass at 7;3 0, good breakfast at 8:15, good conferences - hard rain in morning during Mass - another hard rain after 4:30, lots of thunder & lightning - all good conferences, meeting after supper & visiting.

SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 1953 Up around 6;30 again, ready for Mass in good time. Very good conferences at 9 & 11:00 a.m., good conference at 3:00 P.M. - Question box at 5:00 - 2 very insulting letters in box. In eve procession to Blessed Virgin statue carrying lighted blessed candles from Lourdes Benediction, conferences.

MONDAY, JUNE 15, 1953 Up in good time - usual Mass at 7:30, usual conferences in the forenoon at 9:00 to 10:30, also 11:00 to 11:30. Big dinner at noon - Holy Hour at 2:30 to 3:30 and it was over. Very good retreat -I rode home with Mr. & Mrs. Sladeck, got home around 5:30.

TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 1953 Went to Mass, rested pretty good -first night home after retreat - Did the washing, pretty, good sized one- was tire.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17, 1953 Went to Mass as usual- Pat home today, went downtown this a.m. - getting ready for party-I worked in garden

THURSDAY, JUNE 18, 1953 Went to Mass -Pauls moving today-when we got home from Mass, Lillian, Mary, Libb, Marilyn, Bernice & Lois were all in the kitchen starting dinner for movers. They ate over here- We didn't get to Novena this eve as Dad & Bens planted ?

FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 1953 Went to Mass as usual- Busy day as always- Glenn brought eggs, Pat went out there for supper.

SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 1953 Went to Mass - washed 3 batches of clothes, getting ready for Fathers day at Eds. Pat went out to Glenns for supper again.

SUNDAY, JUNE 21, 1953 A very nice day - We went to 6;00 Mass, Pat & Glenn to 6:30, he brought up their new clock and unpacked it so we got to see it- We all went to Eds for dinner- most all stayed for supper. Children gave Dad a sun visor for-car. Carls came in a new car. Pat didn't feel good. Men got lots of fish.

MONDAY, JUNE 22, 1953 Went to Mass - and did the washing today. Kept busy all day & tired as usual.

TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 1953 Went to Mass- Pat had her 1/2 day off so Glenn came in to get her & stayed here for dinner-she was there all P.M. & eve- Dad picked some cherries, put 3 qt. in deep freeze. Wilmas here in the eve.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 1953 Went to Mass- Gene at home today, helped Dad put cows over in pasture at Bens, he also helped Dad pick cherries & peas. I pitted them all & then helped pick peas-the men shelled them. Pat put them in deep freeze, 10 qt. cherries, 14 pt. peas. Gerald & Pauline and Bens here in eve

THURSDAY, JUNE 25, 1953 We went to Mass -I ironed some- we worked in the garden in the P.M., got main garden pretty well hoed over- Dad started closet in hall- took the door out- Dad & I went to Novena in the eve-to confession- Lyles here when we got home. Glenn brought us 15 ducks.

FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 1953 We went to Mass - Carl & Louise & Charles here for dinner- Charles stayed while they went downtown -I finished the ironing

SATURDAY, JUNE 27, 1953 We went to Mass as usual- Pat came in & helped play the beginning as Rose Klein couldn't - then she played for Marlene Dohrers wedding at 9:00 a.m. Yoders Mill on fire today. Pauls went out to see it in a.m. - Bens boys herein a. m. while they shopped, also all for dinner. Ben & Joann went to see fire in P.M.

SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 1953 Len & Gene went to 6:00 Mass- Len gone all day to Waterloo & Cedar Falls- Dad & I went to 7:30 Mass, Pauls to too, left Johnie here - Bens to 10:15, left boys here - Gert & Nick came-they went to 11:00- at St. Pats, left Jimmie & Robby here - Pat & Glenn went to 8:00 at St. Wenceslaus went home with him & was out there all day, supper at Hebels.

MONDAY, JUNE 29, 1953 We went to Mass - Dad went downtown in a.m. I wrote letters to Bro. John & Libb - had early dinner for Pat & Gene, washed in P.M. - Bens & Pauls here in the eve- Pat made her cherry jam, got 19 glasses.

TUESDAY, JUNE 30, 1953 We went to Mass - we worked some in the garden hoeing potatoes - Dad went after Pat at noon-she had the P.M. of-she washed her hair & ironed her clothes-I did most of my hand ironing.
