April - June

July

TUESDAY, JULY 1, 1952 We went to Mass & then to the grocery store - went hoeing right after breakfast - and hoed all forenoon with quite a few interruptions - Dad hoed sweet potatoes etc - In the P.M. we went downtown - Pat & Lillian went along - I got a new white hat. Pat bought me my birthday dress - In the eve Bens came, brought their beans & cleaned them here. Paul, Ben & Gene all cultivated at the potatoes.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 2, 1952 We went to Mass - then went to the garden again & hoed.

THURSDAY, JULY 3, 1952 Went to Mass - and then after breakfast I started my big washing - In the forenoon I got call from Eva Booth - that she was coming over to call on me this P.M. Lillian was here & cleaned up the front rooms & swept porches - Albert Ruess brought her over - We had a nice visit - Dad & I went to Novena in eve - Maurice came home this eve. Wilmas here for a while -

FRIDAY, JULY 4, 1952 We all went to Mass & Holy Communion at 7:30, then had a good breakfast, got 100 lbs ice for ice cream - Paul borrowed an electric ice cream freezer & we froze 5 freezers - so had all the ice cream we could eat - Pauls, Bens, Lyles & Eds all came - all stayed for supper but Lyles - Bessie came out for supper & eve - Carls here in eve - Pat & Gene went to 4th celebration at park - We got the new plastic on cupboard.

SATURDAY, JULY 5, 1952 We went to Mass - then the boys decided to put down the tiles in the kitchen. Lillian & the boys helped get things moved out & she cleaned the walls for me - and I cleaned the old linoleum - they got along real good & finished by eve -Lillian cooked our dinner & we ate over there - We got straightened up pretty good - Pat & Gene went to a show -

SUNDAY, JULY 6, 1952 Dad & I & Maurice went to 6:00 Mass - Leonard to 7:30, Pat & Gene to nine - Maurice took Dad & I & Bens to Eds, Pauls also went - We got down there real good time, the men went fishing - I got a good rest - we stayed for both dinner & supper, got home about 10:00 P.M. Pat & Gene took Sisters to Clinton, 3 up, 2 back - In the eve Pat went out with Bob -Gene went skating.

MONDAY, JULY 7, 1952 We went to Mass - I wrote letter to Aunt Anna & Father Barnes - to get it straightened out about the receipts- did the washing got along real good - but it sprinkled off on - I finally brought them all in & finished drying shirts & overalls on the rack - no more rain - up way late. Dad took ironer to get fixed.


TUESDAY, JULY 8, 1952 We went to Mass - Marilyn staying out at Lillians while her folks are on vacation, she rides with us to Mass every day -I wrote to Bro. John before we went to church - then after Mass worked in garden about all day - Bens over in eve -picked some raspberries for jam - all the children at home. Len gone a little bit. Set out zinnia & cabbage plants.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 9, 1952 We went to Mass. After breakfast dishes, went to the garden again - watered plants & hoed some - In the P.M. worked on the supper & fixed a skirt for Pat - Lyles here in eve -Libb needs a blood transfusion - Pat gone to a dance -Leonard went to funeral parlor as Carol's grandmother died. Wrote letter to Lawrence.

THURSDAY, JULY 10, 1952 We went to Mass - after breakfast I watered plants in garden - Joann & children came over & she washed windows on the outside and Dad fixed windows & put up screens upstairs & down. They were here for supper, then Dad took them home -Dad & I went to Novena - listened & looked some at Republican convention. Leonard, Pat & Gene went to Rosary for Mrs. Ekrick. Wrote letter to Minnie, card to Myrtle.

FRIDAY, JULY 11, 1952 We went to Mass - got the ironer after Mass - Len got up early - washed his car & then went to Carol's grandmothers funeral - Dad helped me get the soap out & I heated the rest & he helped me pour it out & get it on - Dad & Joann went to sale in P.M. I ironed - Pat helped finish when she got home - Paul took Pat to learn how to drive - Geralds came in eve - visited, then took Dad & I, Pat & Gene out for ice cream cone treat - Eisenhower & nominated by the Republicans.

SATURDAY, JULY 12, 1952 We went to Mass - and then to creamery & grocery store -Bens left all the boys but Mickey here & went downtown - Dad also downtown in a.m. Then Bens were here for dinner. In the P.M. he worked on his car. Joann sewed on my dress that Lillian made for me - Ben mowed lawn for us - usual Sat. hard days work. I made 3 cakes. Maurice came home for supper - Dad & I went to confession - Gene & Pat went skating. Gert & Nick came after 12:00.

SUNDAY, JULY 13, 952 Dad & I & Moe went to 7:30 Mass, Holy Name Sunday. The others all went at 9:00. I got the roast on for dinner, then Dad & I went to Myrtles for dinner, we stopped & took Harold & Veatress along - We had a very nice time. Lloyd Beaver & his wife also visited them in the P.M. Home for supper - Pauls & Wilmas here in the eve - Pat out with Tommy Morrissey.

MONDAY, JULY 14, 1952 Went to Mass - then took suit to cleaner & took cream, looked rainy. I got the onions out of the garden - then it really did rain - but I washed anyway - got quite a few hung out in the eve - Leonard started painting in the P.M. -painted ceiling of kitchen, dining room and bathroom - first coat -


TUESDAY, JULY 15, 1952 We went to Mass - after breakfast I got the clothes starched and hung out - and got the ironing ready - Pat was home in the P.M. and helped out with the work - Len came home about 4:30 and started painting again & put the second coat on the ceiling. Bens left Stevie here while they went to show - we set plants out. St. Wenceslaus skating party.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 16, 1952 Went to Mass as usual, hoed in the a.m. I ironed more today and finally finished by evening - after supper - Pat helped some after work - Pat & Gene went skating again, Kenny brought her home - I was up late fixing dresses to go to the cleaners etc - etc -

THURSDAY, JULY 17, 1952 We went to Mass - I hoed a while in the garden - got the cucumbers done - then it started to rain - then I mended some - Eds came in the P.M. Mary helped me - I got things ready for Len to paint in the dining room - Pat helped after supper. Lyles & Pauls here in eve - rained a lot today & eve.

FRIDAY, JULY 18, 1952 We went to Mass - I didn't feel very good - so tried to rest all forenoon - then got dinner - Dad & I went downtown in the P.M. I got myself a pr. of Dickerson shoes, $17.95 this year - down a dollar, $18.31 in all - Pat & Gene went to Sodality dance - then Pat & Joanie went to Bud Lenzes dance - also Len & Carol. Pauls here in eve - Moe came, down to stay all night -

SATURDAY,, JULY 19, 1952 We went to Mass - another busy day - first we got groceries - then Dad got Joann and took her downtown to shop - Lillian came over & both her & Joann helped get things straightened up around here for over Sunday - also busy getting ready for the big day tomorrow at Gertrudes.

SUNDAY, JULY 20, 1952 My 61st birthday. We all went to 6:00 o'clock Mass - had breakfast & got ready to go to Gertrude & Nicks, Pat & Tiny went with Moe - Gene & Bessie with Pauline & Gerald, Bens went with us - We sure had a nice time - all were there, 50 of us now - not counting Sister, Bro or Larry, 5. Guests also there Harold & Veatress, Bessie, Carol & Tiny - Home a little after 9:00 P.M.

MONDAY, JULY 21, 1952 We went to Mass - then I did a very large washing - Leonard didn't work so stayed home & painted - Dad helped him some -In the eve Pat & Gene went downtown - brought home ice cream - Ben & Joann picked b berries.


TUESDAY, JULY 22, 1952 We went to Mass - another hard day - got some more painting done, walls washed in front room & getting things ready for the girls to help tomorrow. Pat home in the P.M. I ironed some of the plain clothes - Bens here in eve - Joann helped clean up the car.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 23, 1952 We went to Mass, to the grocery store & creamery - then home - Joann first to get here - then Louise, then Lillian & then Wilma - they all worked long & hard - at cleaning house for me - Pat came home in the P.M. not feeling too good - but helped a lot - Bens stayed for supper so Pat & Joann washed windows and woodwork in the kitchen - Wilma took ironing home with her -

THURSDAY, JULY 24, 1952 We went to Mass - then to the cleaners & home - I wrote to Bro. John - Bernie W - Pat had flower sent to him - he is back at Vets hospital - also wrote cards to Gert & Mary -Lillian came over in P.M. - helped clean the kitchen floor & wax it twice - they started to combine but didn't get done. Clarences - Lyles & Pauls here in the eve also we brought Bessie out to see Dem. convention on television. Dad & I went to Novena & confession.

FRIDAY, JULY 25, 1952 Went to Mass - washed. Eds came before noon and brought the children to stay - brought food, Ed had to have work one on the car & tires put on - Mary helped me good. Bernice came over & fixed her hair - I washed - went down & got my hair fixed at 4:15 - after supper we packed up quick & went with Eds to Eldons where they had a party for their Michigan folks, ice cream & cake.

SATURDAY, JULY 26, 1952 We stayed all night at Eds, no Mass today - pretty good nights rest - got breakfast over & left on our trip about 7:53, real hot day - stopped outside Bowling Green for gas - temp 103 - got to 110 at Eldon today - We got to the Lake of the Ozarks around 4:00, met Mr. Austin formerly of Iowa. City & C. Rapids - he helped us find good cabins -everything furnished, dishes, pans, good clean Hollywood beds - chairs - refrigerator & ice cubes - went out on excursion boat in eve 7:30 to 9:00, nice & cool, then shopped & got gifts. Ozark Inn cabins.

SUNDAY, JULY 27, 1952 Good breakfast - took our time eating & getting ready - as Mass was 01 10:30 at Our Lady of the Lake chapel, very crowded, people there from everywhere - got a crucifix as remembrance - back to cabin eat our lunch - then left for Brinktown, got there at 1:30, then went to Wodohodskys - had to eat dinner again - left around 3:30 for the picnic & eat there around 5:30, back to Wodohodskys again around 7:30, looked at garden - visited more - had lemonade - left after 10:15 back to cabin at 11:30 good nights rest - a very good day but hot -

MONDAY, JULY 28, 1952 Left cabin about 9:00 a.m. - went south and around past Lebanon & Rolla - ate our dinner on table by the side of the road near Cuba - good dinner - tried to find Father Puetter next at Luebbing before we got there we found out he had been changed a year ago last May - then stopped at House ? -made visit at St. Philomena Church & lit a candle - then went on to High Ridge - made visit at St. Anthony church & found out where Father Puetter was - went on to St. Louis, mailed letter, got ice cream, shopped a while - got my gray hat - left then drove through a good shower - found Father Puetters place around 7:30 - visited a while - then on to New Florence & stayed all night, got hamburgers for our supper.

TUESDAY, JULY 29, 1952 no entry

WEDNESDAY, JULY 30, 1952 Went to Mass - nice to be getting back to daily Mass once again - I did the very big washing - took me quite a while -good drying day - Pat & Gene went skating. Mrs. Pickering brought Avon products. Bens stopped in, Lyles here -

THURSDAY, JULY 31, 1952 Went to Mass as usual - with Moe - Pat played the Mass, awfully tired today - got a few things ironed. Went to Novena this eve - Ben, Maurice and Leonard all helped get the straw & hay bales in -


August

FRIDAY, AUGUST 1, 1952 Went to Mass - Maurice & Dad put in the last'of the straw bales - still very tired - Put pickles to soak, finished the ironing. Ben & Maurice left shortly after 5:00 to go to Eds for week-end fishing trip. Went to see Bernie-W - he had gone home. Louise & Carl came out a while.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 2, 1952 We went to Mass, a very busy & hard day for me - Dad & Joann went downtown shopping this a.m. - also down to a sale most of the P.M. - I had all the youngsters & most of Pauls too - had pickles to can in eve, 7 qt. bread & butter. Carol here for supper - Joann & family went home about 8:30 P.M.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 3, 1952 Dad & I, Tommy & Ronny went to 7:30 Mass, Womens Sunday -Joann & Mick went with Port & Gene - Mullherins - Gene started serving 9:00 Mass for Aug. & Sept. - I was very very tired today, tried to get some rest - it started raining before noon - rained more in P.M. so we didn't go to Nichols chicken supper - Ben & Moe got home after 6:00, brought us each a mess of fish. Lyles to Pauls today.

MONDAY, AUGUST 4, 1952 We went to Mass - Pat played - Maurice worked some on Dads radio this P.M. - I tried to rest up a little, wrote letters to Johnie, cards to Mary & Aunt Anna, letter to Laurence, then Dad painted the back kitchen walls & in the eve they put down the linoleum. Bens went downtown to shop, Pat went to show with Ginnie - canned 5 qts. spiced crabs.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 1952 Wrote letters to Aunt Minnie & Bessie. We went to Mass - as usual - I washed today - fairly good sized but took most of the day - Maurice tinkered on the radio - then left after supper to go to Nicks to dig the cesspool for them - Dad started work on Bens house - putting shingles on the west side. Bens & Dad went to sale - Gene got haircut - Pat at home. I feel some better, pulled weeds after supper.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6, 1952 Went to Mass - then downtown for groceries, also left the cream - then after breakfast & dishes I went to the garden & hoed - until about noon - after dinner I ironed - and then supper, hoed a little more in eve. Ben & Joann went skating - also Pat & Gene & Ginny.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 1952 Went to Mass - I went to the garden right after breakfast & dishes - Dad sprayed cucumbers, eggplant for bugs - then went to Bens to carpenter. I hoed until about noon then got dinner - after dinner I worked at the crabs - made 132 qt. spiced, then Dad & I went to Novena - after the rosary I finished the ironing - it was about 11:30 when I finished. Dad & I went to confession after Novena.


FRIDAY, AUGUST 8, 1952 Went to Mass, stopped for bread. Right after breakfast Dad got Joann & the children, she came over to help me today - we canned 19 qt. spiced crabs, 8 qt. tomatoes - it rained -Dad didn't get done with the shingling - all here for supper. Eds came in evening - getting ready for trip.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 9, 1952 Went to Mass - Dad & I went down & did our shopping -Maurice came home from Nicks - Had no company today - I had a very busy day though, made rolls, 4 pumpkin pies & a cake - and finally got things cleaned up before supper - but a late supper. Pat at home this eve, washed my hair & put it up.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10, 1952 Went to 7:30 Mass, Dad & I - Moe & Len - Holy Name Sunday - Pct & Gene to 9:00 Gene serving - Eds family left for their vacation trip after 7:30 Mass - kept Pauls 3 little ones today while they went to the fair. Dad & I went up in the P.M. I saw the Thriller ? while he went around & saw the machinery - couldn't find each other afterwards, very large crowd - Bens went late in the P.M.

MONDAY, AUGUST 11, 1952 We went to Mass - sort of a rainy day - Joann & children came over early & for dinner so they could go to the circus - she took Mickey, Kenny & Joey - Ronny, Tommy, Catherine & Phyllis - they enjoyed it very much - they went home for supper - We went to Carls in the eve & got apples.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 12, 1952 Went to Mass - I got the clothes in machine before breakfast - and washed until around 3:00 in P.M. - a whopper for sure - Pat home in P.M. - Aid to go down to fit suit - then canned 14 qt. dill pickles for me - I put spiced vinegar on others - also got bread & butter pickles ready - also salted down some - Pat out with Glen driving - 2 qts applesauce.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13, 1952 We went to Mass - After breakfast I first canned the bread & butter pickles, about 7 qts. - then also canned 11 qt. sweet apples - In the eve Bens were here - he tore down the car so he could get the valves ground tomorrow - Gerald & Pauline came - also Lyles were here -

THURSDAY, AUGUST 14, 1952 We went to Mass. Today I worked long & hard getting the apples worked up, had 39 qt. applesauce, got through cleaning up around 11:15 P.M. - Pat helped good in P.M. Dad & I went to Novena.


FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 1952 Holy Day - Gene went to Mass with Pauls at 6:00, Dad & I & Pat went at 7:00, also Ben - Joann & Mickey went with Len at 8:00, they were here all day - Dad bought our first bu. of peaches this P.M. - kept Rita & Johnie today while Lyles went to the fair. Maurice came home - Big wind blew rabbit tent over at the fair.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 16, 1952 We all went to Mass & communion but Gene of course - he is still working - after breakfast the men helped Ben with his car - then Dad & I went downtown, got groceries, clothes at cleaners & Bro. Johns pictures - Home again - I started to can the pickles, I got 12 qt - started the weeks ironing around 2:00, stopped to mop floors & get supper - got done about 11 P.M. Ben worked at Carls -

SUNDAY, AUGUST 17, 1952 We, Dad & I & Moe, went to 7:30 Mass - the others to 9:00 & took Mickey along. We were invited over to Bens for dinner - Pat went over a little early & helped - We went about noon - took Pauls 3 little ones along - kept them while they went to the fair - In the eve we kept Stevie while Bens went to a show -

MONDAY, AUGUST 18, 1952 We went to Mass - Moe went to the specialist, came back around noon, was here for dinner - Leonard busy getting things ready to leave on trip out west tonight. I canned 25 qt. peaches out of first bushel - Dad got 4 more today, canned 22 qt. of them - Eds came home from trip Sunday night - came up here tonight - they had a good trip.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 19, 1952 We went to Mass - Leonard left around 2:00 A.M. to pick up the boys & start on their trip. I did a big washing & then got tomatoes ready and canned 17 qt. soup - also put pickles in brine - and got other pickles ready for bread & butter pickles & cucumber relish.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 1952 We went to Mass as usual - In the forenoon I canned the 16 pt. sliced cucumbers, 7 pt. cucumber relish, dampened the clothes early in the morn - then did the ironing in the afternoon and eve - finished about 10:30 P.M. Lyle brought Bobby & Davey up to stay until Sunday -

THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 1952 Went to Mass - then Dad got Joann and family & the washing, she did her wash & canned 16 pts. pickled crabs - I got meals - Lillian helped defrost the Deep Freeze in the P.M. - Dad got the beef - Joann helped me put it in freezer - Dad & I went to Novena & confession.


FRIDAY, AUGUST 22, 1952 Went to Mass - another busy and hard day - as we canned 67 qt. peaches, Lillian & Joann helped me all day - that made 89 qt. from the 4 bu. @ 2.79 - we easy eat 1 qt - mended some tonight - very tired -

SATURDAY, AUGUST 23, 1952 Pat played for Rita Kaefring wedding. We went to Mass - I canned 3 qt peaches from the next bu C1.98 - and made 12 qt of tomato soup today - Dad helped over at Bens this a.m. -they poured the footing for the new kitchen - In the P.M. they all went to sale. I kept the children - In eve. PA & Gene went to confession, then she fixed my hair. Moe came home for supper - first card from Len.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 24, 1952 Dad & I & Moe - Mrs. Mulherin went to 7:30 Mass - Gene, Pat, Bobby, Davey, Marllyn & Roger went to 9:00, Geralds & Louises both came today for a while this a.m. - I kept Bens 4 boys & Johnie while they went to Mass, then Dad & I, Bobby & Davey & Bessie went to Aunt Ellas for dinner - had a very nice time - got home before 6:00, got a good supper - Lyles, Bens & Pauls all here in the eve - Pat stayed all night at Tinys.

MONDAY, AUGUST 25, 1952 Dad & I went to Mass - Tiny brought Pat & Joanie K in for Mass - Pat played the Requiem, they both sang - then Pat had to play for Joan ?uces wedding at 8:15 - she got along pretty good - Dad & I went to the grocery after Mass - after breakfast he got Joann and family & washing - they took Benny to the Dr & got medicine - he seemed some better -Joann washed & I canned 11 qt pickles, 12 qt. peaches, makes a total of 129 qt this year -

TUESDAY, AUGUST 26, 1952 We went to Mass - Pat played the Requiem and then played for a funeral - I washed today, had quite a few showers - but managed to get the clothes dry - also canned 16 qt. tomatoes, 2 qt. tomato soup, 5 applesauce and had to work rather late - pretty tired.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1952 We went to Mass - then after breakfast, Dad got Joann & children - then Dad, Joann & Mickey got the corn to can - We got 26h qt - and Joann got 30 pt. canned - that was all we had - Dad went to a sale in P.M. - I also salted down pickles & put vinegar ? on others & canned 2h qt. sliced pickles, Ben, Joann, Pat & Gene went skating - we kept the kids.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 28, 1952 We went to Mass - I wrote letters to Bro. John Gertrude & A. Minnie -, and cleaned up the house, mopped the kitchen floor etc - etc - got good supper for Pats company Joan Klein - they went skating in C Rapids with Pat Fisher & Tiny - I ironed part of ironing in P.M. - finished the rest after we got home from Novena - Leonard got home from trip in time for supper.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 29, 1952 We went to Mass & after breakfast Joann & children came over - she did her wash in forenoon - went home right after dinner. I worked at the apples, sorted out the poor ones & canned them, 11 qt in all but it was a lot of work - after supper we cleaned & waxed the floor - Moe & Gene helped some - Pat went to Engels to baby sit - I worked, finished apple canning & cleaned up things - got to bed about 1 a.m.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 30, 1952 We all went to Mass - that is but Gene & Len - Ronny & Tommy starting to stay here while Paul & Lillian went to State Fair for 3 days - I worked awful hard today, doing a washing of 5 batches, ironing them & cleaning up the house some -made 12 large, 2 small apple pies, cut up chickens - then late at night mended for the children - Nicholas' came between 12 & 1:00 A.M. - it was 2:00 A.M. before I got to bed - Len worked for Blackman today.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 31, 1952 Pat & Len went to 5:45 Mass at Thomas More Church - Dad & I & Maurice went to 7:30, Pat & Gene & the boys, Joann & Mickey to 9:00 Gert & Nick to 11:30, had lunch at noon & then a big supper - I was so very tired today. Lyles were up this P.M. Carl & Louise after Mass, then went to the State Fair - Gert, Nick & Moe went to show tonight.


September

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 1952 Labor Day - We all went to Mass - Pat had to go to work - We got rain early this morn & part of a.m. so they didn't do any digging until P.M. Lyles & Ben here for dinner. Ben, Nick & Gene went fishing in a.m. they got the sewer dug & tile laid at Bens - we canned Gert 10 pints carrots and some sauerkraut - awful tired again tonight. Eds came & brought Pauls children back.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1952 We went to Mass - Gene went back to work another day - Dad working at Bens as usual - I wrote to Larry & sent off other letters for diet etc - Did the washing in the P.M. - very tired again - but glad to get it done. Louise & Carl & Charles here for a little while this eve.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 1952 We went to Mass - after breakfast Gene took all the little folks to school, first time for Mickey, Catherine & Phyllis -they just went k day - in the P.M. Gene took Lillian & Joann down to buy books - he also got all of his own & supplies all paid for - I ironed & canned 15k qt. sweet pickles. Joann washed over here today - went to Louise tonight & left the 4 little boys.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 1952 We all went to Mass - took the 5 little school children too - wrote letter to Bro. John, also sent his insurance - I cooked almost 2 bu. tomatoes & sieved them for catsup to make tomorrow, got cucumbers etc. ready to make relish tomorrow, quite tired today - Went to Novena & confession this eve - Dad & I & Pat.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1952 First Friday - We all went to Mass - a very nice day - Dad busy with the carpenter work - I wrote letter to Larry & sent hunting laws - Rec'd letter from Sister M. she can't go for Bro. John's Profession. I picked the grapes & we got them off & juice made late in eve - also made 23 bottles catsup and 16 pt. pickle relish - long hard day again -

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1952 We went to Mass - Maurice at home - In the forenoon I made 3 cakes - took care of Ben's 4 boys - In the P.M. I made 1 more cake - made between 30 & 40 glasses grape jelly - after supper iced cakes, mopped floor and picked up some around here.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 1952 Len went to 6:00 - Dad & I & Moe went to 7:30 Mass, the others went to 9:00, they also took 2 Mulherins, 4 Pauls kids with them - Bens also went to 9:00, we kept the 4 boys. Joanie Klein came home with Pat to go to the reunion with us - also Louise & Charles. Louise helped get the picnic dinner ready, had a very nice time at reunion - 35 + were there, 2 visitors - Clarences came up in the eve - also Bens were here for a while -


MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1952 We went to Mass as usual - Joann came over & did her washing - I got a big dinner - after dinner Dad took me down for my permanent at 2:30. I spent my time in church reading my prayers before I went down. Lillian & Johnie also went down - I was very tired in P.M. - got home about 6:00 - Gene went for hair cut, Pat went to C.R. for dance with Tommy Morrissey.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1952 We went to Mass & straight home - Pat didn't have to work today so helped good at home - Lillian came over & helped Pat with tomatoes & got them ready for ketchup - I did a big washing after I was done & helped finish the catsup - we had 27 bottles, very tired, glad that's done - makes 54 bottles for this year. Louise left Charles here for a while. Pat & Gene & Pauls 4 kids went to Louises for tomatoes & apples for P.T.A.?

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1952 We went to Mass - and after breakfast I cleaned up the floors some, starting ironing some before noon - after noon I finished it all by working real hard - In the eve we butchered 38 chickens, put 37 in the deep freeze - Pat, Len & Gene were at home & helped - Ben & Joann, Paul & Lillian also here & helped.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 1952 We went to Mass - then after breakfast I wrote to Bro. John & Aunt Minnie - cards to Louise & Myrtle - packed down 3 pkgs. chicken feet - after dinner made Holy Hour - fixed pickles and made 10 qt. grape jam - then Dad & I went to Novena. Pat out with Glen.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 1952 We went to Mass - stopped for bread, then home - Dad went over & got Joann & children and washing - She did her washing here in the forenoon - I picked some lima beans before noon - then went out again after dinner & picked until after Gene came home - he helped me finish picking -Lillian took some over to her house and shelled them - Joann worked on them here - then we all helped finish. Pat put them in the boxes for freezing, we had 12 qt. 10 pt. Eds here in eve.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 1952 We went to Mass, then down to the store - a very busy day cleaning up & fixing up the house for company tomorrow. Leonard & Maurice helped in the P.M. - Pauls over for a while in the eve - Rained late in the night -

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 1952 Louise's 39th birthday - Dad & I - Moe & Len went to 7:30 Mass - it was Men's Sunday. Then after breakfast Dad & the men thought they could dig potatoes but there were too many weeds. Louise & Carl came for dinner. She helped a lot, even on her birthday - Len brought Carol out for dinner -Pauls & Bens here in P.M. watched bail game. Wilmas & Elizabeths here in eve - Dietsch's came in their new Chevrolet.


MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1952 We went to Mass - Mickey home with chicken pox - Catherine & Phyllis were to Mass but then didn't stay at school as they didn't feel good - I did a big washing & cleaned up the house, was very tired. Len & Gene went skating, Pat & Joanie went to the C.Y.O. meeting pot luck supper - I was up late.

TUESDAY,.SEPTEMBER 16, 1952 We went to Mass - Mary came today & brought her tomatoes. I helped her make her preserves, then she helped me iron some. Then I finished it late in the evening myself, pretty tired. Pat & Joanie went out with Bob & Donnie.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1952 We went to Mass - Joann brought her washing over and the children - she got done by noon - I made 8 glasses tomato preserves - In the eve Dad & the boys loaded up all the hay bales - Paul, Ben, Leonard & Gene all helped - all were home this eve - I mended some -

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1952 We went to Mass - had a flat tire so it made us late - Wrote letter to Bro. John - got dinner and cleaned up kitchen floor - Pat home for dinner. In the P.M. I rode down with Leonard & shopped - I got my purple dress & new hat - ??? -Pat got her shoes in eve. Dad & I went to Novena & confession. John called - said he had been accepted.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1952 We went to Mass - after breakfast I wrote to Myrtle, Wilma, Sister M. & Bro. John - got dinner & canned 10 qt. pickles -put spiced vinegar on last batch for this year - Libb & family here this eve - also Louises ? - the girls helped measure my dresses.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1952 We went to Mass - then to the Big B for groceries - I got most all the cleaning done this a.m. - In the P.M. I rode down with Leonard to town - shopped a little , then got my hair fixed Q 4:30 - 6:00.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 1952 Maurice went to 6:00 Mass so could go hunting with Ben -they each got their limit in the a.m. out at Carls - Dad & I went to 7:30 Mass - Len & Gene & Pat went at 9:00. In the P.M. Len went to Carols - then they took Libb & Lyle with them to the Holy Name Rally - We went in our car, Moe drove Dad & I & P1 '4t & Gene & Bob Handy ? with him.


MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 1952 We went to Mass, then got Joann & she did her wash here -they were here for dinner & supper. I picked the L.beans and with help from Pop, Ben & family got them podded after supper Pat got them ready for deep freeze, had 13 qt. - The men folks, Lillian & Joann got the potatoes dug & picked up - Moe home today, had to go to the Dr.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1952 We went to Mass - I did a good sized washing - Len had to work today - In the P.M. Pat was home - helped me a little, then cleaned her room - all the kids home tonight - Wilma & Clarence here for a little visit - Gene took Joann, Mickey & Stevie to Oxford to the Dr. - he wasn't there.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 1952 Leonard's 21st birthday - We went to Mass - Gene went in Leonards car to Dubuque to the monastery, took a load - I wrote to Bro. John & canned 7 qt pickles & got a good dinner for Leonard. In the P.M. I ironed and took care of Johnie while Lillian went downtown - In the eve. Bens & Pauls, Dad & I & Pat butchered 25 chickens. PAt & Gene went skating.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1952 We went to Mass. Lillian & Joann came today & helped some -first they cleaned & packaged ? chickens for deep freeze -then made veg. soup 16 qt for me, 2 qt. for Lillian. I mopped the kitchen & cleaned it up before supper - then Dad & I went to Novena.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 1952 We went to Mass. I got the work done up early & then started making sauerkraut. Lillian helped me some. Leonard gone for dinner today. I finished shortly after noon - then did some mending. Paul & Lillian here for a while in the eve -

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1952 We went to Mass - left the cream & then brought Marilyn M home so her folks could go to Margaret Ann Kubicks & Dale Seydel's wedding - then after we eat our breakfast - We went to the grocery store - I had a busy day getting ready for the big dinner at Louises Sunday and getting supper for company. Carol was here.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1952 Maurice went to 6:00 Mass, Dad & I & Leonard went to 7:30 & had to take Pauls children. Pat & Gene went at 9:00, Joanie came home with them to go along out to Carl & Louises for the Sept. birthdays dinner. There were 93 of our family, Bens, Pauls, Eds, Geralds, Elizabeths, Louises, us, Carol & Connie, Aunt Bessie, Carol & Joanie - had a nice time - Bens here in the eve.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1952 We went to Mass as usual - Joann came over & did her washing - Mickey back in school again today.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 1952 We went to Mass - I did my big washing today - was very tired - Pat home in the P.M! helped out with different odd jobs.
